Engine Mounts - Part number confusion
My cars engine mounts are due for replacement and I've visited a couple of stores here in UAE and came across something strange.
The replacement part number is actually 220-240-27-17 - This part as per the EPC shows and it fits most AMG cars of the era.
All the part stores were however recommending 220-240-33-17 - This is a part for non AMG Mercecdes cars however the EPC shows it is also used for the S55 and CL55 AMG (only these two AMG cars). Are these mounts any different from the AMG ones? Anyone using this? Are the AMG mounts any different?
I still went ahead with the AMG specific mounts 220-240-27-17 though it was more expensive than the other mount.

Wanted to get the Black Series mounts however it was available here only on backorder. My car is at the garage for the dreaded engine rear oil seal leak and couldn't wait for the Black Series mounts.
I would sure get them the next time it has to be replaced.
I'm looking for some inputs from member on what mounts that are currently using and the actual differences between them.

about the 2 different mounts...most members here wouldn't know. you would have to cut the mount open to inspect the difference and most of us here haven't done so. externally even the black series mounts look the same as the factory E63 mounts, but the black series mounts are stiffer.

The non amg mounts fit but only last about a month. The amg mounts last several months before the side under tension starts to break down. A limiting strap at the mount cures it. Drivers side if i remember right. Depending on how much you play of course.

Can you share more about the limiting strap? I'm having my mounts replaced today and would like to avoid replacing them in 30k miles again.

or using a ratcheting strap to tie the motor mount down from moving. essentially creating a solid mount with a tie strap rather than a stiffer engine mount.
people use, chains, ratcheting straps, or steel braided straps.

Why not just order some East Coast Euro motor mounts and not have to worry about the stock ones needing to be strapped down: https://eastcoasteuro.com/services/

Luxury is nice if It doesn't cost performance. It's often a trade off. More performance = less luxury.

The stock mounts are *marginally* smoother than the East Coast Euro mounts. I went from good OEM motor mounts to the East Coast Euro mounts and I wouldn't be able to immediately tell a difference unless I knew exactly what to look for. With the East Coast Euro mounts, there is a very very tiny increase in vibration that you can feel if you're looking for it at idle but that is about it. The cost of having the more robust mounts, better longevity, and ability to rebuild them was more than worth the cost. The mounts also sit about 10mm lower that OEM so if you're adding long tube headers you get a little more clearance.

I just got my car back after the replacing the mounts. The mounts feel good, it is much stiffer than the earlier ones. Still feel a bit of vibration occasionally, but guess that to do with the slightly harder AMG mounts. Overall, it feels good.
