E55 AMG engine damaged
hello guys
sad story, my e55 amg with the m113k engine has on the cylinderwalls scratches
now i read that the walls are coated with nikasil and its impossible to get that again on it.
what can i do with my block? i cant find any used one

E55, GLS450, GL63, GLE350
They are not coated with Nikasil; rather, it is alusil. It is a process whereas the hardness of the silicon is brought to the surface by honing with a Sunnen honing machine. It is reparable but it will be cheaper to get a new block unless you just want to do a big power engine build. If you go that route, I recommend having the engine sleeved.

if you want to reuse the block you can ghetto hone it but the right way to do it would be to sleeve it or get a bike shop to spray it with nikasil.
if you’re out of luck just get an NA block from a 500 and send it. make sure your fueling and tuning is 100% or it’s gonna happen again
