This place is a joke.
There's plenty of shill bidders and games on BaT to inflate the value. Many sales on there would never happen in a regular non-auction setting for such outrageous prices. Since BaT doesn't handle the sales transaction, I wonder how many of these auctions end up with no money changing hands.

I'm obviously never in the demographic for these cream puff examples, but I'll still never understand it. There are AWLAYS cars I would rather drive for the same price as what these examples tend to go for. And if you do drive it, it will depreciate almost like a new car. So....people buy them to put them in their garage? Or collect/speculate and sell in the future? Buy the nicest example in the world of their childhood dream car? I dunno, it's not me, that's for sure. Like a $100k Integra Type R. I just.....will never understand. And I've driven an ITR.

And the bottom line is everything made of rubber or synthetic products, e.g. seals, hoses, bushings, are 15 years old and deteriorating. Plastics, leather, etc the same. Tires more than five years old?
Don't get me wrong, I would like the car, but would expect to sink some serious money into it if I expected to reliably drive it. Put it on display? Sure. Drive it? I'd put the $40K+ towards a W213 E63S...
YMMV.

Likely bid to the reserve by a shill bidder. Look at the top 3 bidder's histories, and tell me what you think.

Bring a Trailer puts a 5% hold on your credit card when you place a bid and at the end of the auction if you are the winner they charge your credit card the 5% up to a maximum of $5,000. If you don’t win the hold is released. So I’m confident that the winning bidder would complete the purchase. I have bought two Mercedes on BAT in the last year.

I feel sure a classic VW I was watching on BAT had friends of the seller bumping the price. Now wether or not the people/person really wanted it, who knows. But I know they knew each other very well that he didn’t need to bid he could have bought it from the seller for a price if he really wanted it.
