Supercharger belt snapped
Hello Forum,
I was pulling into my garage and all of a sudden I heard a loud snap, so I quickly turned off the engine. Turns out the supercharger belt split in half. I didn't make it all the way in, so my question is can I still turn the engine on and pull the car fully into the garage?

the supercharger belt takes but a moment to remove. I think its a 16mm bolt for the tensioner. It's the 16? point bolt to the left in your first pic. put your ratchet on it and it goes to the left, this will release the tension on the belt and allow you to remove it. The only thing on that belt is the supercharger. You can also cut the belt (careful, it is under tension) as its junk anyway. I wouldn't run the engine with the belt in that shape.

Yep. You can probably even drive it lightly. 100% safe to pull it into the garage. Might want to just do a quick look around and make sure the belt whipping around didn't damage anything else, or cut any hoses, etc.

I'm in Fairfax as well, close enough to walk to the Vienna Metro. Have you ever heard about Benz Elite Automotive, that is the shop that I take both my E63 and X5M to.
They are also in Fairfax, but closer to the Merrifield side close to the Mosaic. They do outstanding work on Porsche, Audi, Mercedes and BMW. But their bread a butter are Mercedes.
And their pricing is pretty good, as compared to the dealership. Just google them if your interested.

Yes, I took my E55 there to get coilovers installed since my Airmatic went out. Great shop.

Cool..... I'm glad that you know about the shop. I've been going to them for years, even when they were located off of Eisenhower Ave in Alexandria.
