2005 E55 Weird Issues

R.K.

On the way home, I blew the radiator or should I say, they hid the blown radiator with some epoxy and it split when we were coming home on our 1200km trek back. Radiator place had one in stock ; believe or not and had the local MB dealer install it and got us on our way. We also noticed that the gas gauge wasn't working and the car had a hard time starting. It took 3 tries to get it going. Got it inspected and had to complete the following work to it:
-All new brakes and rotors
-All new front suspension pieces. Upper and lower control arms, bushing galore. And a wheel alignment
-Fuel pump and sending units both needed to be replaced
-Brake fluid change
The above cost me $9600.00
Now after doing the transmission service, the trans goes into limp mode because it needs a speed sensor changed. Its going in for that tomorrow..
What I have left to do is:
-The E63 front bumper is actually fiberglass and beat up. I want the a new Suvneer bumper plus paint - $1800
-All the piano finish on the exterior is stained. I can't clean it up. I tried polishing it, brake clean etc... Unless someone knows how to refinish it, I need to replace them all for $1200. Maybe get some 3000grit sand paper and try that?
-Rear strut is leaking - $2000
After that, it should be good to go.

There is a reason why people sell these older cars, because maintenance costs tend to skyrocket out of control. I'm sorry that your E55 has cost you thousands already and will cost you more in the future.
But once all the maintenance issues are rectified, you'll have a sweet ride on your hands.

This guide helped me tremendously with getting the drivers side mount out
The S-65 was worse... took 1-1/2 hours first time.
Unplug the the wire to the steering rack... drop the rack... let it hang on the hoses. Now you have lots of room to sneak the mounts out.
This IS a job to do on a hoist. Having a pair of screw jacks helps. Support the engine with a screw jack. Raise it up.. short section of 2X4 on the end of the screw jack for the ‘lump’ at the front of the oil pan.
Worst part art of the job being the fasteners on top of the mounts. Seems like passenger side was worst. Drivers side I got with a wobbly and an Allen with a long extension from the top.
OP for your efforts you will have an amazing wagon. Congratulations
