Power Trunk Lid - Too Fast
Anyone else have an issue with the power Trunk Lid? Mine seems to open and close way too fast. It is unbelievable aggressive how it slams open and close. I did see another thread to move the trunk springs. I moved it back two holes which helped a bit, but still fast. What part would control this?

My recollection is that there were two versions of the control unit for the trunk closer. The first version closed aggressively. The later version closed more slowly.
What year is your car? Can you see what part number is on the control unit? It is attached to the hinge mechanism.

I retrofitted my E55 with a trunk closer using all MB parts purchased from eBay. I paid $45 for the ECU on eBay. If you end up needing one, you can find them cheap if you take your time looking.

I don’t mean to HiJack this post, but I have a “Trunk Release” issue I thought I’d mention to see if anyone else may have a solution. My 2007 E63 trunk release on both my key as well as the switch on the driver door will not release the trunk if the car engine is off? This is a rather recent development too, so seeming as it used to actually work with the engine off both with the key FOB as well as with the switch on the door, I am wondering what may have failed contributing to this problem? It’s only when the car engine is running that I can use the switch on the driver door to release the trunk and only sometimes immediately after I shut down the engine? Otherwise, I’ve got to bust out the actual key from the FOB and stick it into the lock to release or start the car again to use the switch on the door, which I’m sure you all would agree is a real PITA!
