Lower Windshield g.Daimler Sticker Question
My 2005 E55 was parked by a very nice 90's S-class the other day. I noticed a "decal" on the lower passenger side front windshield with the "g.daimler" signature which I have seen on other Mercedes-Benz models.
Do our cars all come with these from the factory? I have seen various versions on Amazon which can be bought for about $10. Are these just to simulate what the factory windshield looked like? I have always wondered what reason they served, if any (other than having that original off-the factory look).
I recall my 2012 CL550 had a similar decal on the lower front passenger side windshield, however I don't remember exactly what it said. I don't recall if my 2010 E350 had one. I have seen the "g.daimler" signature with a white background along with transparent versions. I also have seen some with a simple "Mercedes" handwritten looking script.
My 2005 E55 doesn't have any sticker. I believe it is a pilkington OEM glass windshield, however I do not know if it is the original.
Any thoughts on these decals/stickers? The one's with the white background stand out a bit, but I like the look's of the signature font.
Thanks,
EM
