Lower Windshield g.Daimler Sticker Question

Hi all,

My 2005 E55 was parked by a very nice 90's S-class the other day. I noticed a "decal" on the lower passenger side front windshield with the "g.daimler" signature which I have seen on other Mercedes-Benz models.

Do our cars all come with these from the factory? I have seen various versions on Amazon which can be bought for about $10. Are these just to simulate what the factory windshield looked like? I have always wondered what reason they served, if any (other than having that original off-the factory look).

I recall my 2012 CL550 had a similar decal on the lower front passenger side windshield, however I don't remember exactly what it said. I don't recall if my 2010 E350 had one. I have seen the "g.daimler" signature with a white background along with transparent versions. I also have seen some with a simple "Mercedes" handwritten looking script.

My 2005 E55 doesn't have any sticker. I believe it is a pilkington OEM glass windshield, however I do not know if it is the original.

Any thoughts on these decals/stickers? The one's with the white background stand out a bit, but I like the look's of the signature font.

Thanks,

EM

I replaced my windshield and put one on. I'll take a pic tomorrow.

The sticker changed for various years/models. Although some look better than others, I personally would always go with the factory looking decal. That's just me! The factory one on my '06 is the white signature with clear surround. Similar photo attached! Good luck! 😊👍

They come on the OEM windshields. Nowadays they sat either G Daimler or Carl Benz.

For your E55 that decal had an original part number of 129 584 08 38. That has been superceded to 004 584 74 38 which can be bought from online dealers for about $7 plus shipping. If your local dealer sells them at MB suggested retail price you can pick up one there for about $10. Good luck. .

The original sticker used to be a square white-ish colored sticker. I don't know when they went to the cursive Mercedes stickers, but they look silly compared to the original ones that looked more stately IMO.

I agree. In the post I made in post #5 above this is the original decal. I do not know for sure what the superceded decal looks like. It may be the one shown in post $3 above.

I like that better than the larger older sticker.
