E 63 AMG airmatic to coilover conversion
Hi everyone, I have a Mercedes E63 AMG W211 with the factory Airmatic suspension. I’m planning to switch to coilovers, but I want advice from those who have done it. If I go with something like BC coilovers, do I need to replace only the rear control arms, and do I keep the front stock arms? Also, what type of bypass module would you recommend to clear Airmatic warnings after the swap?
Additionally, I’m in Los Angeles, and OEM shocks are out of stock everywhere. If anyone knows where to get an OEM Airmatic strut temporarily, I’d appreciate it. My plan is to either restore it briefly or just have a backup option until I’m ready for the full coilover setup. I want to understand the full process—what exactly I need to replace, what steps I shouldn’t skip, and any advice from those who’ve completed this. Thanks!
