Optimal RPM for E63 AMG from complete stop?
Long time lurker first time poster. I recently got an W212 AMG Steel color and am loving it.
I have a quick question re 1/4 mile striaght line races. What I'm doing now is using manual mode, left foot on the brake, right foot on the gas and rev the engine to 4k RPM in 1st gear. Release left foot allow engine to barely hit redline then upshift.
Is 4k RPM optimal for this particular car or should I rev it higher? I use 4k RPM because in the instruction manual it tells you to rev the engine up to 4k in Race Start mode.
However, I'd rather not use the Race Start mode for obvious reasons (too long/troublesome to initiate, cancels easily, 0.5s lag).
Any advice would be welcome!
Sincerely,
Siamesecat

Also do you have the EPS to off or sport?
I read on a review site that using RS versus the above method only increases 0-60 time by "hundreth" of a second; it's not a big deal to me.

Click on the 2011 E Sedan manual, RS mode is described on pg. 191.
