2012 E63 vs. 2012 CLS63?
#52
Ok so i drove the 2012 e63 wow what a engine that car is sick. they didnt have a cls63 for test drive. but sitting in the car "CLS550" It's funny it seems much tighter and smaller inside i don't care about the backseats i'm talking in driver seat. i also i think even though the cls on outside has a little more pop and see much less of them i might pick the e63 just cause it give you a lttle more lux in that rocket ship of a car.

I know what you mean BRETT0429, it is pretty small in the cls compared to the e.....
but the cls is so badass in appearence you know?
can't recal if you've had the chance to try an '11 e63.....

I think most will agree with me here, the CLS interior is nicer than the E (63 vs 63) on a 2012.

Just got back from the dealership (yet again). The dash and center console are way nicer on the CLS
Interior space and head room is way better in the E (Plus more airy with the Pano)
I think I mentioned it before, but in the interior, the E feels like a seriously upgraded C63 but the CLS is feels completely different

I wasnt saying e63 was nicer i was saying i felt roomier and still a smaller car when throwing thru the curve and turns.
i know the cls has more appeal but i also think there something on the cls stopping me when i look at outside of car i feel the cls looks a little long i know its on 4 inches but somthing is making me push to the e63 trust me i wish i wanted the cls more then e63 its a lot less common cause of the different non amg models.

I kinda like the E's look better as well (was always that case, I like/d the W211 better than the OG CLS as well). When I see the E and CLS together I feel the E even looks more aggressive and dynamic (CLS more elegant and sporty). Where the CLS crushes the E in style is the rear end IMO, however, with the right setup the E's rear looks stately and appropriate to it (the CLS's is just far more fashionable). The comment on the CLS's length is true as it's a little longer than the E, however all that length is in increased overhangs front and back, as the wheelbase is identical.
Interior wise, no contest that the CLS has better materials. However, the designs are pretty similar and I like both in different ways, they have very different characters. The E's is more stately, airy, functional and utilitarian while the CLS has a more ultra-lux, intimate and sense-of-occasion approach. The CLS is way too tight inside for such a big car though, M-B is terrible at making use of interior space when limited to that design. Even the little VW CC has more frontal headroom for drivers.

Agree w/ above, it was an aesthetic decision for me, as it's obvious the E is the more practical choice. I can handle the E's front end, but the rear...ugh.

We're on the same page. Was standing in front of the E and CLS fully loaded in PP configuration and ended up signed a deal for the E.
Will arrive in 10 days with extended Designo leather (Maroon). Will take some high quality shots so we can compare to the CLS.

Yeah I'm in Europe. Placed the order 2 months ago after an AMG driving event. Delivery scheduled for December 13th - 15th.
Allow me to clarify that I prefer the CLS from a design point of view but having driven them both back to back I felt a bit more connected to the E. I guess it comes down to me comparing both cars to my dear departed C63 of which the E was the closest in handling/driving dynamics while offering a much needed upgrade in cabin feel and space.
Having said that it was an extremely close call for me. Both the E and CLS are outstanding cars.

I actuallyd ont like the rear of the CLS (new or old). Also, the car on the outside looks huge and is so small inside. Bad space utiliazation.
The inside is def nicer materials but the dash set up in 90% the same. It just has leather dash and the leather seats are slightly better quality. Otheriwse its pretty much the same. You also get some more wood (too much wood in my opinion).
But both are graet cars but I'd take the E any day over the CLS

Personally, I definitely like the more nimble and tossable drivability of the E over the CLS. I also like the additional interior space. In addition, I prefer the "fly under the radar" aspect with the E. When I was on the way back home from Birmingham and passed Lafayette, Indiana, I was surprised to see a gray GT-R (my first time seeing one here in the States; actually my other choice until around a year ago). After I passed him, I noticed him changing lane immediately and followed me for a while until he had to turn to whereever he needed to go. So I figure for most of the population, they have no clue on the difference between a regular E and an AMG E.

i too prefer the outside looks of the E over the CLS. Its interesting how everyone has a different taste
When I first saw the E series body style changes (as compared to my current E55) I did not really like them. They grew on me over time.
When the C series changed bodys, I immediatelly fell in love with the new look and my wife picked up a C300 back in 2008.
My ordered E63 is on the "Virgo Leader" scheduled to arrive in LA on 12/20. probably just in time to sit on the docks over the holidays but I'll be in Paris/London over Christmas, home for a day on New Years eve, then off to Asia for two weeks. So either I get it on New years eve or mid January.
