right because P2 is now standard but not really added into the price of the 2012s, good point
a local dealer apparently has 5 new 2012 's in the 94-96K range, so i assume they are base, without the PP,
their damn websites are sooooooooo vague, no details on option or real pics
so darn annoying

Not sure where you are located but at least here on the east coast a 2012 special order e63 or cls63 at 8k to 9k under sticker is doable. Oh, and I would get the 2012. I would still buy if you are going to hold long term like 5 or more years. Just get an extended warranty through dealer or if ou jar geico get the mechanical breakdown coverage for a much cheaper option.

I wish I could find a way to get that sort of discount here in Texas. Heck I'd consider buying off the east coast at that discount. Now I honestly have not breached the subject much with dealers so perhaps I am just assuming no way I can get it. The last dealer I did bring it up with said he could do I think it was a $1k discount but it was a small dealer so did not expect massive discounts. The bigger dealers though have come off too proud of the product so not really had much hope there either.
If you are serious on buying a 2012 and want a deal, call my dealer Ray Luliucci at Cherry Hill Motors @ 856-324-3967 and tell him you are friend of mine from the boards. I can't say enough good things about him. He gave me an incredible price, quickly responded tom my numerous calls and emails on order info and changes, and moved mountains for me to get my car ordered, built, and through customs and transport in record time. He even arrived at the office two hours early on the date of delivery to shoot live video of the car rolling off of the car carrier and emailed it to me in the morning as a wake up call.
You could order through him and drive through the break in period on the way from Philly to Texas.

Its supply and demand. 40% of all AMGs sold in the world are sold in CA or something like that if I remember the claim from a Motor Trend article. In the northeast not as many given there a variety of factors that I think include our roads, weather, and fewer people who like to spend their money on flashy peformance cars (even though there are a bunch of people here with a good deal of money). My current dealer and a few other area dealers were willing to cut great deals on AMG orders just to show a good flow of AMGs running through their dealerships for MB corporate.
If I were in CA I would buy in the East if I couldn't get a good price cut off of sticker.

One - got a great deal for me after shopping around and doing my homework. Made the decision and love the car. Haven't looked back. NA 6.2 is orgasmic when starting it in the garage. Vrrrooom!

got to drive a 2010 and a 2012 back to back again today
the 2010 shifted smoother, sounded better and was feeling quicker, but i dont know if its because the new one was unbroken in, probably
the 2012 had the comfort box option, have u seen this, nice touch MB

i know man its killing me
initally my plan was to do some mods on my c320, rims exhasut, tune, but that is so limited, then the plan was to trade it for a c55 of similar milage, so i can have a little more fun.
then, i realized that the car itself is small for having 2 car seats in the back so i was leaning towards a w211 e63, but not for long, even tho money wise they are good deal
then im like why not a 2010 e63, cpo, almost sorta got one but it got sold before i got to it.
now im just moving up the ladder, and now i want a new 2011 or 2012,
obviously i need to put a number down as to how much i am going to spend and then just buy what fits in that
Especially when the price of buying a CPO 2010 is around 70 and a brand new with PP is around 110000, I need to figure if its worth 40000 difference in price is worth it
we tend to buy cars and never lease, and im not sure if thats always the best way.
we always to tend to keep our cars for a long time, as u can see from my sig
I drive the w126 4-5 times a week, its pristine
parents have the w140, 220, 221, with the older 2 combined 400,000 miles. And all still run decent. BUt the w140 and 220 obviously are pricey to fix.
in terms of the E's I say right now, i wouldnt do any tuning, but who knows what i would do in the future
ive always chided my brother for messing with his RS4 2008, as it is pretty bad *** stock but he has dicked around with it
You say the new old engine isnt tunable, but isnt weistec getting another 100 out of it.
In terms of everyday driving i suppose 518 hp, or 550hp will do the same function , i just need to lay my ego down and just get something,
thank you and good night now

im in the same boat youre in...
cant figure whether i should save 40K and get a 1020 E63 with P package, or wait a few months and get a 2012 with P. package.
since there will be snow on the ground here in canada for the next 3-4 months.
OR
wait a few months more, and get the F10 M5
a few days ago i was all set on the E63, (actually came here from the C63 forum, - i figured, its faster, cheaper looked great, has the same great 6.2L engine,.. but then i test drove one and as nice as it was, realized it was just too cramped for me.)
then i read i review on the 2012 CL550 , which they got a 0-60 of 4.2 seconds!
i thought, i cant get a used AMG and have someone pull up beside me in a newer NON AMG and be just as fast or faster!!!
then theres the thing with the interiors of the F10 M5 and the E63:
to me the M5 just outclasses the merc.: i mean that whole interior is literally wrapped in leather, REAL leather.
and i really like the matt finishes and "sheen" of the m5 interior vs the shiny, reflective surfaces in the mercs... the more modern, curvacious lines are really cool too.
the exteriors - i really like the E63 - bold and unique. great.
what to do...
oh well

I agree. F10 has a smoother and fancier interior than W212, but the W212's exterior is a lot hotter than the F10's exterior IMO. I do think the W212 has a better "living environment" and a better "interior ambiance" however, as M-B are masters of that and really flexed those muscles with the 212's interior. It's like the W126 modernized, IMO. Very logical, hard cut to convey solidity, German, and to the point, i.e more purposeful.

I mean, just the ambiance of your surroundings when you're inside. I feel like the F10's interior coddles you more, however, driving in the W212 is a more calming, and comfortable environment. I feel like a lot of thought went into creating a great ambiance to drive in (comfort wise, as it's not a very sporty interior) rather than an aesthetic that is meant to initially please and impress you. Again, kind of like the W126 era.

the rest of the dash is kinda blahish, but the nav screen is nice, the E and cls screesn are soooooo small

Yeah, I'm not a big "screen" guy, in that it's not a huuuuuge deal to me, but yeah, after sitting in a BMW, the Benz screens look absolutely tiny. It's a bigger disappointment in the CLS, as you'd think for that price they'd at least give you an adequate screen. The large screen in the 5-Series (which is Optional, btw, the standard screen is puny and nasty looking) also has graphics that make the M-B screen look completely antiquated. Oh well, I don't buy Mercs for the screens I guess.
