coffee cup displays all the time?
First week with my new machine, and I have the coffee cup displayed constantly. Op manual says this indicates operator assist "active", but the next line item cites this display means operator assist malfunction. Car is driving and running near perfect, save for a rather harsh transfer from park to reverse. I will be calling the dealer, but wanted to see if anyone else has the coffee cup displayed all the time? Really enjoying driving this car, and out of the box power is impressive . This is my first AMG . regards, and thanks for any info-

Mine too
I noticed this as well. Car's a few months old and the cup is always on. I'm thinking it just means it's active. Go under settings to deactivate and see if it goes off.
Good luck with your new baby. |
yea what is that coffee cup thing anyway?

isnt it for when u accidently move out of lane or it senses that u arent following the road it should vibrate the steering wheel
my E has it, and its a little annoying sometimes, when lanes expand or if u dont put on you r indicator the actual lane assist thing is kinda cool when it pushes u back into lane |

no doubt, the radio volume dips too and you get that red signal on the display.....
it learns your driving habits and then after that lets you know if you're drifting or something.... mine went off once a couple of times on my way to the beach, but I was flying and it was windy and I was being blown around a bit, and the car thought I was all jacked up or something, lol..........so it let me know, but it hasn't happened since...... it doesn't really bother me...........makes me think of how much I love coffee:naughty: |
Yes, the message can be removed by going into the steering wheel/main display settings and de-activating the system. It also has a time warning on it as well so if you are driving for too long, the warning will come on as well telling you to take a rest.

why deactivate?
My original post was to see if folks have the coffee cup as a resident display. Sounds like it is . Only issue I have is the op manual also cites that continuous display as "operator assist malfunction"... I have not received any cautionary displays such as the drowsiness detected one, or anything else for that matter. As noted, it also sends a buzz thru the wheel if it detects serious off trail operation!! Thanks for the info-

Yeah, got a message from it once. I still wonder what sets it off. As mentioned above, just deactivate it through the menu via buttons on the steering wheel.
|
Still confused
Doesn't the coffee cup tell you lane assist is active? Why turn it off just to get rid of the image.
What about the sign next to it?. Car with pointed lanes beside it. Seems to be on with the coffee cup and is color yellow. Changes to green after a while. No idea--why? |
I don't have lane assist but I have the coffee cup that can be deactivated. I guess that means the coffee cup is different from lane assist.

Mine came with a single serve espresso maker in the glove box, the symbol flashes when my brew is ready......

I'm glad MB chose a coffee cup for the logo :)
I really like a clean dash and hate lights that have to be on but I do look down at it every now and then and think "I can get behind that logo, I love coffee" or "yes AMG, thank you for reminding me for coffee time, thats why we get along so well!" |
in the S we had expresso cups :)
|
Coffee cup is attention assist it shakes the steering wheel if it detects that you are drowsy. The lane assist has the symbol of a "road" in the dashboard so they are different.

I wish it was a little icon of a monster can

Its kind of funny. My 2011 E350 has that coffee light on all the time. My dealer told me it means the drowsy assisst is on and I have seen it personally the steering wheel vibrate and the warning light came up on my display. But I have had my AMG for about 2 months now and have never seen the coffee light come on.
Does that mean I have to have this function turn on manually or my AMG doesn't have this function? :nix: The wife says how can you be drowsy diving a 550 horse power sedan so we went into a debate with me saying does that mean I shouldnt get coffee no matter how long of a drive it is. :rolf: |
Me too. Me too.

I have yet to see the coffee mug as well after 3800 miles of ownership... I think it only comes on after extended periods of driving in a generally straight line ... Like highway driving
|
From the sound of it. It seems my E350 which has the coffee light on each time I turn on the engine is malfunctioning.

never seen it after 9500 miles on my car even though it's active. I want to see it!
|
I haven't seen it on my AMG, but here it is on my E350.
