+1. They planned on offering hyacinth red / cardinal red, but it strangely doesn't appear available yet on any e-class. There's even a MB press video on Youtube of a 2014 e-class wagon in that red.
I really wanted Mars red, or basically any color that's not so damn dull. No idea why MB wants these cars to look so boring.

If you plan to keep the car forever or if you have unlimited fund, then any color to your heart's content will be the one. But you ever plan on trading it in or having ease of selling, then it's good to stick to the tried and true silver, black, and white. It's an interesting read from DuPont's research via google on the most popular car colors in various markets around the world. Most of the time, those three colors are the top three. And it seems it has been that way for decades.

I too was disappointed in the colors offered.
I remember when the E46 M3 came out. Was a landmark m car and had so many cool color options. BMW wasn't afraid to offer some style. MB is playing it a little too safe here. Why so conservative with such a crazy fast car? Why all the stones with the performance but such a bland look?
I'd love my e63 in steel grey with a red interior. Or techno violet like my old E36. That was part of the panache of the performance model - colours that weren't available to the plebeian masses. They did the front end to get a younger buyer... So give me the option of a color that doesn't make me look so old *****.
I would do the performance studio if it wasn't such crazy money. Alubeam over a red interior with a carbon centre console (I can't believe you don't get this with the 2500 option) and q-citura cross stitching on the seatbacks and door inserts. Make my 135 rocket look the part too. To stand out ill have to do rims or something, even though I don't really want to.

You can have anything you want if you go to the performance studio. I asked, and was told to work down from 2x the price of the car rather than up from MSRP. Also it won't be available for a while for the E63.
MB could have made more money off me if they were reasonable with these kind of upgrades. As cars get faster and faster I think ultimate performance will become less important and individualization will get pushed to the forefront.

I too remember the E46, in fact I still own my E36 M3/4. It is Alpine over Modena, which if you know M3s, a Modena interior in any E36 let alone a sedan is quite rare. However, I think if Benz offered purple (techno) or Dakar (yellow) type colors in the E63, it just wouldnt be period correct IMO. But as a fact however, most people dont want these colors, dealers wouldnt order them unless a customer did and they would sit around and not sell. The car looks best in black or white anyway! Maybe I am bias though

Or at the very least offer more interior options. 3 color choices is quite bland, and designo really doesn't change it up much.

Designo has some interesting blues.
I have the lunar blue on my cls63 and think it looks pretty sharp withe grey interior with the carbon fiber package.

Porsche 911 Turbo S 2014! E63S 14, Audi S8 13, CLS63 12, E550 12, C63 09, all tuned
When I did Euro delivery in fall 2011 for my CLS63, I notice that all the cars in the show room where black, silver or grey. Then the rest of the trip, I came to the conclusion or a fact, that they don't buy anything but silver, grey and black cars. That is why the lack of other colors.

Remember there is also this business edition for AMG's in Europe or just Germany. The edition deletes many exterior features found on an AMG, including the quad exhaust tips, to make the car not stand out from the crowd as an AMG. With a similar mindset, it is no wonder the showrooms in Europe are filled with only black, silver, and grey cars.
Oh another thing against red: it's the color with the widest band in the visible spectrum and thus the hardest one to color match if repainting of panels is needed during repair. I have heard that matching the exact same red is nearly impossible.
