Condensation in 2014 headlamps?
Ok, picked up my car yesterday and today I noticed that there was some misting and condensation in both headlamps. It's quite tricky to take a picture of, but you can definitely see some serious swirly patterns visible inside the plastic lens. It did get a bit colder today, dropped to about 40˚F, but i've never seen anything like this before.
Is this something that is common in E63 headlamps? Did i just get some duds?

If the condensation did not clear up I would take it in to the dealership and have them fix it. I obviously have a different car, but I had both of my lens replaced under warranty because the seal was bad. MB should offer you a similiar fix.

Thanks. I've sent an email to my sales rep along with the photos. He said they would take care of it, but just wanted to get a feel if this was a common problem or not. Cheers!

I think that is normal now.. especially if it clears up shortly after. Usually headlamps were air tight with a gortex patch but now with the sealed LED design, the dealer may tell you its normal.

just found this reading through the users manual..
Headlamps fogged up on the inside
The headlamps may fog up on the inside if
there is high atmospheric humidity.
X Switch on the light and drive off.
The level of moisture diminishes,
depending on the length of the journey and
the weather conditions (humidity and
temperature).
If the level of moisture does not diminish:
X Have the headlamps checked at a qualified
specialist workshop.

Funny, I just read this today when I was reading the online handbook someone linked to regarding the auto high-beams.
I'm actually going to the dealer on wednesday for a radar installation and some more clear-bra installation, and they are going to look at the lights just to double check. I'm not overly concerned as it did clear up and i've not had it since.

Condensation 2014 e350 sport headlights
same happen to me one night. I decided to clean my headlights outside in cold weather. I then sprayed the cleaners and whipped it off with micro towel and saw moisture in both lens only at the bottom corners near the grill. I will provide pictures with this!

Apparently, some dealer is saying the fix is to add silica bags. I'd laugh until they came up with a real answer.

only thing that really concerns me is corrosion and that leading to yellow mist and making the plastic go bad from the inside or even the outside. These headlights aren’t going to be cheap to replace. Mercedes should have done a better job regardless !

I agree and I wouldn't be ok with headlights that fog up like that. I haven't experienced the issue, but if I did, it'd be at the dealership.

I have a 2016 C63 S and I have the same problem. The driver side headlight got condensation after driving in last week's cold weather here in Florida. I contacted my service advisor and he sent this PDF file which basically says that if the condensation goes away it is considered normal. If the condensation does not go away then the headlight need to be replaced. Attached is the PDF file that I received.

I have had the same issue with my headlights. The dealer had to take the front bumper off to remove the headlights. There's supposed to be a service lid to install the silica packs but my headlights were sealed. The mechanic took a special tool with heated tip, kind of like a soldering iron and cut the opening out. It was quite involved but he got it done ok. He's done quite a few he said.
This was done app. 1 year ago. The desiccant bag lasted app. 9 months before the fogging came back. The dealer installed a new pack when the car was last serviced. I'll take some pics over the weekend and post it, along with the part #, if anybody needs to have this mod done.
Btw, the headlights aren't covered under the used car warranty. They're considered consumables.

w212 moisture in headlamps
Does anyone have a partnumber for that headlamp servicecover?
I've asked several dealers, but no results for a this part. Is it from a w213, w212 or some other model?
And any pictures of the "hole" in the headlamp unit?

Yes, this is very common across all Mercedes vehicle, AMG or not. I would take it to the dealership where you picked it up from and ask for goodwill replacement since your out of warranty.

Hi! Allready asked and no warranty or goodwill because the lampunit has a visual damage. I'm now replacing the unit and looking for the parts to prevent this in the future.

Hi Jani,
That's the part, yes, I just looked at the google pics. Could only find a Russian (I believe) site with a good pic.

Had the same problem on my SL63
contrary to popular belief, the headlights are not fully sealed and vent air so that water can get in and out.
solution is a hair dryer to heat up the air in the headlight which will drive out some of the air with some of the vaporised water in it. When it cools it sucks back in dry air.
you will probably have to do this 4-8 times to completely clear the water. It must be left to fully cool between heatings.
This will work- it’s simple physics.
