New member intro - buying E63 wagon
Hi guys
I'm new here, and I've been reading the posts here on this forum for a while as I think about buying an E63 wagon.
It looks like there are a few remaining 12s and 13s wagons around, and I've been going back and forth between snatching up one of those vs. placing an order for a '14. There are actually a amall number of '14s available in Socal right now, but none spec'd the way I want. For a big discount on a '12 or '13 I can handle that, but not on a '14.
A few questions....
>>For those who ordered one, what was the process like? EVERY dealership I talk to makes it sound like the easiest thing to do, but I also understand the dealer has to have an allocation, otherwise its just empty promises. How can I get confirmation that a dealer can get me a car within a reasonable time frame?
>>Discounts on '12 and '13s? I am talking about NEW cars - what is an appropriate discount on these wagons? 20% for 13? 20+ for '12? Is that unreasonable?
>>Wheels? I've noticed that nearly ALL 2014s turning up at dealerships have the 10-spoke wheels. Most pics I've seen of new cars from guys here also have the 10-spoke wheels. I much prefer the forged 5-spoke, even on the wagons, and just wondering why most of these cars get the standard 10-spoke?
I like the design of both cars. I've seen and driven the 2012 and 2014 and like them both. I know some guys hate the new facelift on the '14s, but I like it. Overall I am leaning towards ordering a '14, but its a tough call at $20+k off MSRP on the outgoing models...
My spec on a 2014 is polar white, forged wheels, carbon interior trim. Done.

Dealers need an allocation to order a new one. Ask for a copy for confirmation. My dealer did not have one but was able to trade some inventory to another dealer to procur one for my January build.
The ten spoke titanium wheels comes standard on the wagon but black and twin five spoke are an option. Ask a dealer for a copy of the 2014 E63 Dealer Ordering Guide which shows most everything you can option the car with along with pricing.
Just my opinion but I believe going forward the 2014s with their AWD will tend to be the used cars of preference over the earlier models not considering price points.
Good luck.

i would go to the biggest dealer in your area and ask what allocations they have, i know my dealer only got one allocation which was mine, none others coming in for a while. From what ive heard, the bigger the dealer the more allocations they receive!

if anyone has pics of the new forged wheels on a sedan or wagon...would love to see them.

I also prefer the look of the forged wheels from MY2010-2013. The '14 forged wheels look a little too bland.

Oops - didnt mean to say that was my car, just found this real life pic of the forged wheels on a car from a dealer. I wanted to see them on a real car, not photoshopped marketing pics.
But if (more like when) i place my order for a white wagon i will get the forged.

2014 E63 S Model Diamond White / Tan
I started to see alot of cars with 10 spoke titanium finish wheels. If I wanted to swap them for the 5 spoke, do I need to replace tires as well? I couldn't find it specs anywhere except that its 19"

here are some photos of white with night styling and black wheels. the pictures are lousy (bad lighting). this car (white) is available at a dealership. i think white plus forged would be great.

I received a smoking deal back in May for my '13 E63 Wagon. You should expect deep discounts well below invoice on the non-facelifted model.
That said, I wish I'd have waited a few months for the '14 to arrive. I'm a fan of the new lights as well as the AWD, especially during ski season and being a long time Audi driver. Conversely, I'm hoping in a couple years they'll bring a proper gearbox to this car (not that this one is terrible), and when my lease is up I can make the switch.
PM me if you'd like my specific lease rates.

in my post above (#20) its two cars - first two pics are iridium (i think, maybe its some other silver...MB has, what, 20 different silvers???) and last 3 are white.
they both look great. i saw the white in person (i took the pics) and that is the color i will order. in fact, i was very tempted to just buy THAT one but i think i will order it spec'd just like i want.
