My dealer stated they'd replace them if the two TSB solutions didnt take.

*shrug*

I've searched the forums and can't find anyone else with anything like it. Has anyone had luck with the warranty on this or similar (like a very temperamental headrest-level switch)?
I have the same exact issue with my headlight and the dealer told me they won't change it. There was nothing they can do about it. I would assume this is defective and warranty should cover it. It's been bothering me for a while now. Baton Rouge, LA Mercede Benz is where i went.

The "vented" headlight rear covers from the TSB are in at the dealer. I'll have them put on ASAP and get part# and TSB info if I can.

2010 E63
Nothing on my 2010, went and gave it a thorough look after reading this thread. My lights do have some pitting from 40k+ miles of roadrash and when the lights are on at night I can see the v shape from the pattern in the pitting, but nothing "burned" in that is visible during the day.

They switched out my headlights to the vented ones according to TSB. Car sat for 2 weeks at the dealer before the headlights came in. I'll wait and see whether the new headlights solves the problem.

FF. W212 E63 M156 non-pano 18" P2 ParkT NightV (gone but will be missed).
Sorry to go off topic here. Does anyone know if the dealer will align the headlights for me? My left's horizontal cut-off is lower than the right, but I'm not sure which side is the problem. Does anyone know where I can find the specs for the light pattern? It shouldn't be that difficult since I have done it once myself using tape measure and garage wall for another car.

Left side beam is supposed to cut off lower than your right in left-hand drive markets.

They took the lights off to install the new back and clean them out. They wouldn't clean out, so they are replacing the whole headlights on warranty, which is taking awhile because apparently E63 lights are rather special and have to come from far away.

In the meantime, yay C300 4-matic loaner. Im tempted to find a BMW 330 to test drive to see how they compare. Everything feels lazy and slow when youre used to the E63 and the C6Z06 :-/

Well, the new headlights have the vented rear covers, so hopefully .... condensation wont get fried for quite so long in the same spot.

Thats my theory.

doesnt make sense, if the issue was condensation it should be able to be wiped off from the inside right?

The issue is that the beam is so hot that condensation is consistently steamed in that particular spot, leaving mineral deposits and other stuff that was hanging in the condensation. Those deposits are much harder to get rid of... they've been baked on pretty well.

I've heard that isopropyl alcohol can eat away at it if you can get access, but the dealer apparently isnt taking that route.

respectfully......still doesnt make sense.......if it was condensation, that means water had gotten in, and say it steams up ..how is it that the beam perfectly burns it into the glass identical and so geometric in every situation.....
if the current lights are sealed...how did the water get in.....

i dont have an answer to it...luckily its never affected the light brightness....

do u have a copy of the service bulletin

thanks

Not yet, but I'll try and get a copy or some info when I pick the car back up (or if I trade this C300 in for a nicer loaner... they've promised me a CLS)

Here's the TSB. The parts order for the new headlights STILL isnt here. They put the car back together and gave it back to me in the meantime.

Just had both of my headlights replaced without any issues. Service advisor never mentioned any of the sequential steps mentioned in this thread.
