How long do most of you plan to drive your E63?

Just curious how long you all retain this type of vehicle, thanks in advance.

Traditionally I'm the type of person to drive my car for 5-6 years before I get bored

3-4 yrs most likely.

It took me a little while to fall for the car... but I am certainly appreciating it more now than when I first got it. It's the perfect do-it-all for my climate.

As long as a low-headache ELW will take me. That's why I'm now looking to see if I can find an ELW warranty that will take me longer than the factory's max 7-yr.

Seven years (the length of the warrantee) unless it becomes unreliable. This is my wife's car. Her last car (2004 Volvo V70R) was sold at 10 years (62K miles) when her E63S wagon arrived.

Why so short? Do most just want the latest and greatest? Your not losing that much because you got a great deal? It's a small price to pay for fun? I hear so many people on here buying and selling a lot but most of the people I personally know or see keep their cars for much longer.
By the way, I would have kept my AMG longer (18 mo.) but the warranty ran out and I wasn't chancing it anymore.

It should be forbidden to own these cars out of warranty ... can't imagine paying out of pocket to get some of these complicated issues fixed....

I'll probably own mine for ten years or so. I can't see taking the big hit I'd take getting rid of it after only a few years and it seems like a very solid car and only driven around 10K miles a year so hopefully it will go the distance ok.

Probably a 4.x l V8, way more boost an clever turbo software. I can see electric systems too, but I bet it will be after BMW and Audi. It will be interesting to see how the I8 sells, if they build a 4 door etc.

I wouldn't mind driving this car for a total of 10 years.
I have just spoken to a finance person at an Audi dealership that sells Fidelity. It's too bad that Fidelity starts on the day you buy it rather than a pre-selected date. The price tier is determined by whether or not the car is still under the "original" factory warranty (MB's 4 years), and also on mileage that starts with 35K miles and goes up with every 10K miles on top of the 35K miles. If after the "original" factory warranty, then the car needs an inspection.
I think I'm going to look for a place closer to where I am and also wait another year when it is closer to the end of the factory warranty. Otherwise, I'm losing money having two warranties on the car for one year.

I just bought mine (used), so probably till it hits 75K and my ELW runs out (~3 yrs), then I'll move on based on my past track record.

Yep, I agree with you on this one, this car is a keeper for sure, best car I've ever had, very smooth, getting these bridgestone pole positions tires a got 5 months ago was a good move, I'll keep replacing them as needed, the key is to road force balance them as with all tires, I'm a perfectionist as far as steering wheel vibrations and that sort of thing. This car does everything I want in a car, decent utility for hauling things, fast, handles good and not bad on gas and all the features it has are just great, no complaints from me on this car. Like you I drive other cars, I keep a VW Jetta TDI wagon in Florida as I do a lot of highway driving there and a Chevy pickup here up north which is great for hauling things around, but I'd much rather be driving the benz, but gotta focus on not racking too many miles up on it, if I did not split up the driving between 3 cars I'd have a half million miles on the Benz in 10 years, lol.

36 month lease usually culminates in a lease swap/assignment at 18 month mark. My 2010 E63 was a favorite but only lasted like 14 months before I got bored. However, my 2008 CLK63 Convertible lasted about 3 years, but it was pretty awesome, and I'm struggling with why I sold it.

I struggle with that too...chalk it up to the head bolt potential issue and the cost of that if it ever happened.

I plan on keeping this 2011 for a long time, I can extend warranty out to 2017 if i want. Previous 2007 E63 I had out of warranty and I did spend some money on it. Air shocks for front, did myself through Arnott. Fixed the pano roof myself after something like $6,000 quote to "replace" it. I have and will conitue to help others here who have pano issues like I had.
Did the rotor and pads myself, I think cost was like $3200 all around using Evosport rotors. Quote for that was $2700 just for fronts.

If you are comfortable and can fix the car out of warranty then fine have at it. I lucked out on what went wrong and I could fix it. If the engine had hydro-locked then I would have been SOL.
