...and it now sounds better than any F10 M5 exhaust system ever made, regardless of price!
I finally caved and had the center resonator removed and straight pipes placed instead like Vic55 has suggested on several occasions.
The sounds is awesome. It really wakes the car up especially under load. When cruising on the hwy, it is minimally louder but when you get into the throttle it is noticeable louder and less muted allowing you to hear a bit more mechanical whine and much louder growl. If anyone is considering an exhaust upgrade, try this first and see what you think since it is so inexpensive. I bet you won't want to part with $3-5k after you do this mod.
The car sounds better than any F10 M5 exhaust I have heard (or M5 without exhaust).

PS I know...it never happened without a video clip...working on it.

Folds down the rear seats for increased in-cabin effect.
Of course the dealership will blame any problems that is remotely related to the modification.

3" Stainless pipe from the exhaust shop. Two pieces to fill the gap left by the center resonator. $15 each for the piece I think?
Dealer has to show that me removing a resonator (used to decrease car sound output) directly caused any warranty claim they want to refuse. There is no sensor on the resonator and if you didn't know it was there, you would never be able to tell I had it removed (visually).
I can also have the resonator replaced if necessary...another $150 or so....

I never thought to put the seats down -- that's a great idea
won't they fly back up when accelerating hard?
I get the Magnussen-Moss (spelling?) law/act/treaty or whatever -- but I've read more people getting denied warranty claims despite citing the mag-moss doctrine... just an anecdotal observation of mine on various car forums for over 10 years

Yes, be good to hear it under acceleration and outside idle and rev. Thanks. I would think the only warrantee item the dealer could void if they wanted to be jerks is the exhaust system, other than that it could not affect anything else in my opinion, by exhaust system I mean mainly the cats.

Sounds pretty mean, but I think it is a 6.2 l not a 5.5 l bi-turbo.

I'm pretty sure that's either a 2012 or a 2013. It does say it's a 212, wouldn't a 2011 be a 211?. But ya, sounds great. If that is indeed a 2012 or a 2013 I'm real tempted to do that resonator delete to my car. Hopefully 335 xray will post a good sound clip of his car, I'd like to hear what it sounds like inside the car accelerating.

no the w211 is the body style from 2003-2009, the w212 is from 2010-current, but that does sound pretty badass, i think it could be a 6.2 though, ill wait to hear 335's to make the call though!

It's going to be a few days. Borrowing a buddies GoPro (and my buddy) to tape cold start, revs, fly by cruising, fly by WOT and inside car WOT.

Video Clip of Center Resonator Removed
Finally borrowed my friends GoPro and bought the suction cup mount to shoot some video. This is my first shot at using the GoPro AND at editing video so give me a bit of slack if things are butch league. Any teaching points would be great.
Without further ado, an 8 min clip of a drive this morning.

I am moving from a 13 c63 PP to a 14 E63s. Car will be here late next week. What I loved about the C63 was the loud, mean sound. I have been looking into down pipes for the E but think this may be the solution! Lots cheeper than downpipes and it won't require a tune.

Thx XRay for sharing and for posting the video. This is a must for me and will be my first mod. How much louder do you think your car is now....5-10 percent? Just trying to get a perspective.

Congrats, it is indeed one of the best and cheapest sound mods one can do on the M157. Oh the F10M5 exhaust sucks in compare. LOL.

I would say 10-20% at idle and cruising and probably 30-40% under aggressive throttle.
