They took a new Benz E63Amg and put it on the track against the Corvette Z06. I really did not feel it was fair at all because they had a profession race car driver in the Vette and some Yahoo who did not know how to drive in the Merc Wagon. The Vette smoked it in a lap by 11 seconds. I really feel if they had a professional driver in the Merc there would have been a much tighter gap. The driver of the Merc did not trust the car in the corners and was slowing down way too much. The Merc actually has more hp than the vette, the Vette has 505 hp and the Merc. 577 hp. The whole test made the Merc look really bad I felt. Seems like this car always gets a raw deal in testing, like that test from Europe of the AWD Audi against the 2 WD Merc on wet roads, that one was a joke too.

I watched this episode.
Those US TopGear guys are morons. This was clearly evident when they created that crazy 1000HP Honda minivan.
They also acted like they didn't know very much at all about the E63S. If they had, they probably would have shown more respect and shown it performing better.
Maybe Porsche bought the most commercials for this episode?
The UK TopGear show is far more enjoyable and they seem more into the cars & technology.

I have one of each. An E63 wagon and a Z06.
There's a reason the Z06 is the track car and the E63 gets driven every day.
There's no way the E63 can compete on 285s at 4500lbs when the Z06 is on 345 rears and at 3000lbs with a few basic weight mods. The Z is a 6 speed, which as nice as the E63 wagon transmission is (*cough*), is superior for absolute best track times.
I don't know the track that there was an 11 second difference on, but really, does it matter? Are we really worried about the way an E63 wagon does on a track vs. an essentially street-legal track car?

I actually saw that episode a couple days ago. That wasn't a fair race they put a race car driver in the vette and the vette had at least a 5 car length head start. All in all it wasn't a serious lap for the e63.

I just thought it was really disrespectful to the e63 AMG wagon, the guy driving was laughing and acting like a idiot. I know if it had been a fair race the Wagon would have been much closer.
