WTB Your 2010 E63 Center Console Trim

For those of you that have upgraded your center console to CF or have an extra set lying around, I'd like to buy your ALUMINUM center console and front ashtray trim (preferably with the black leather). The aluminum center console area was only found in 2010 models. I'm not interested in the 2011+ "piano black" [plastic] trim.

Thanks!

i think there is only 2 of us who converted to CF,

i used my core, the only extra pieces i have are the lower trim of the doors, in black piano

as i used a burl set i bought to have them cf'ed

Are you talking about rbtmak (I've already been in talks with him)? Maybe my best bet is to find something on eBay.

vdubpower 08-06-2014 12:51 PM

Yes.

I tried to find a set too so I wouldn't have to use my core.. not gonna happen. Non amg sets are on eBay but no parts fit. Not even the AC surround.

Best bet is send in your own core

I used ocarbon

xxGenericSNxx 08-06-2014 02:38 PM

Why doe

xxGenericSNxx 08-06-2014 02:40 PM

Why doesn't the ac surround fit?

Here's what I'm trying to do: ordered an AMG with designo bamboo. On the 2010 AMG E with bamboo they had bamboo around the ac and the two edges along the center console. A 2010 AMG has an aluminum shift area. I want to replace all the black plastic on mine with what the 2010 cars had. How is the ac surround different?

vdubpower 08-06-2014 02:55 PM

amg and non amg ac surround are different size, trust me i know

i had purchased a burl set off ebay hoping to use some parts in the CF transformation. NOpe....only thing transferabble was the lower door pieces. I didnt need to do the dash as I had the CF interior from factory.

bamboo would be awesome, hopefully u can get someone to match what u have.

to remove the AC surround u need to remove the upper dash vents and trim, slide the radio out , remove the ashtray and in order to remove the ashtray u need to remove the gear surround, once all that is out of the way u can access the screws for the ac surround

enjoy

Can you explain to me in a little more detail how the AC trims are different between the two? I'm trying to figure out if there's some modifications I can make to the non AMG one to get it to work.

Also, did the two "ledge" thing edge pieces of the center console transfer over OK?

Thanks!

vdubpower 08-06-2014 08:45 PM

NOTHING transfers

the ledges on the non amg are too big,

the ac surround is different size overall,

the innersection is the same where the electronics fit, thats the same , but otherwise its different, i cant recall what part was thicker or thinner but it is,

head to a dealership and measure it...i should have before i purchased off ebay,
luckily i recouped my money

only door and upper dash stuff will work, not sure for the 2014 and on

xxGenericSNxx 08-06-2014 09:48 PM

Damn that's good to know vdubpower- thank you. I'll have to hunt around for the AMG specific part numbers for the W26 bamboo trim.

vdubpower 08-06-2014 10:50 PM

genuine mercedes parts.com something like that has part numbers.....you dont wanna see the prices

best bet, use your core pieces

where are u sourcing more bamboo from

I've got access to the full EPC (same system the dealer uses) for all those exploded diagrams. It's just hard to find this part- especially when I don't have a VIN for a 2010 E63 with this installed (never offered in the US at that time).

I'm sourcing all of my parts OEM from a Benz dealer and pulled the part numbers from EPC to supply them. No one really does aftermarket bamboo trim except for Brabus, but even then the color and pattern may not match exactly. It's much better to get OEM when you can. Surprisingly the parts aren't too bad. I ordered all of the door panel ones that go under the armrest already, and I did do the three in the center console as well (before I made this thread). Need to do some more digging to get the right ones for the AMG now but the OEM parts should exist.

vdubpower 08-07-2014 02:28 PM

what about using the source that rbmak used straight from germany

Patric 08-07-2014 03:23 PM

Is there a way to check junkyards nationwide for parts? Might find some pristine bamboo for cheap.

benyl 08-07-2014 03:35 PM

car-part.com for junkyards.

vdubpower 08-07-2014 07:25 PM

Better off at a nursery

xxGenericSNxx 08-08-2014 02:37 AM

Thanks guys. I've just got MBenzNL helping me out on this one. It'll be better than trying to find a needle in a haystack.

(Also Bamboo was never offered on the USA 2010 E63 which is essentially the car I'm looking for the parts from as 2011+ they moved to the stupid black plastic center consoles)
