2014 e63-s Trunk close problem, please advise
Hey guys,
My car is only a few months old, 2014 E63-s Sedan. For some reason when I press the trunk close button, it goes down and then pops right back up. It's as if the final stage, right before the trunk locks closed fails and the lid pops right back up. Nothing seems to be interfering and when I manually close the lid there are no problems. I just don't want to slam the lid each time.
The mechanism works fine to open and close, it seems like the final stage which sucks in the trunk is failing and causing it to open back up. Any idea why?

'14 E63S, '13 G550, '06 E320 cdi, and a bunch of other stuff.
Could be a bad control unit, or something is physically not lining up correctly.
Make sure there aren't any obstructions/debris around the trunk to body seal.
My E63 trunk acts up very now and then... locks the car when I press close, won't lock when I hit close and lock.

I hear ya... I usually save issues like these for service visits.. unless this is a deal breaker for you. I have a few items on my list for my LSD oil change in a week or two... small things just keep going wrong with these cars.. oh well -- they're sweet when they work right.

Bring it to the dealer. I had the same the problem a week after my purchase. Apparently it is an electronic system error which they needed to 'reset' it.

There is probably a "pinch protection" function that needs to be reset. I have the issue sometimes on the auto up fonction of the driver side window on my Saab where it goes down automatically after getting to the top. A reset procedure is listed in owners manual and gets it fixed for a couple of months. I'm sure it's an easy fix but I agree it's anoying!
