Should I purchase Pre-paid Maintenance?
Good evening!
I purchased a 2015 E63 Wagon November 15th... I've purchased a 3yr/100K extended warranty from Mercedes as well as a Wheel & Tire Plus warranty. My pockets are feeling much lighter, thank you. My question now is the pre-paid maintenance. I'm getting a quote (which I think is list price) from a Mercedes dealer for $2375 (4yr/40K miles) for pre-paid maintenance.
Does that make sense? I'll likely keep this vehicle 6 to 8 years... she has 328 miles on her to date.
Thanks!
Mark

Better value is to buy 3 year deal at 1000.00 and re-up at three years for another 3 years pre paid
I got the 7/75k for $2500 and the wheel tire 5 year unlimited miles for $1500, I plan on 7 years on the dot and then get rid of it... Will never own and amg out of warranty!
Congrats... Looks awesome

If you are going to drive the car for more than 4 years or 40K miles, you may want to consider the items which trigger at that service point for the 2014 E63:
Replace Brake Fluid
Replace Engine Air Filter
Replace Transmission Fluid and Filter
Replace LSD Fluid
Replace Cabin Filter
The vast majority of service items prior to this interval are inspections and/or routine items.

I got that about 6 months ago from naperville Benz in Illinois but got the same quote from Wilmington Benz of Delaware where I bought the car. Naperville have me that price perhaps because I went through two Buybacks with them and they were trying hard to keep my business on a new e63 after they bought back a second e550... But willmington owed me nothing and had the same price. I know a couple months ago Benz re tooled their warranty pricing and they went up in price like 30 to 50% and perhaps the pre paid also went up
Shop around though... Call other dealerships like Benz of austin

Well, I didnt pay for that prepaid, so what do I pay for services?
According to MB scheduled maintenance, there's a Service A and a Service B, right?
I pay $280 for one and $385 for the other. Isnt it:
2k: LSD Service ~$250
10k: Service A $285
20k: Service B $385
30k: Service A $285
40k: Service B $385
----------------------
$1590
What am I missing?
And oh yeah, Welcome to the E63 Wagon club! We have the best car in the world, so you're in the best club now.

On a side note, I did buy "Lifetime Oil Changes" at my dealership for $650. I use that between MB service intervals so that I get the oil changed every 5k miles.
Im pretty sure the Lifetime Oil Changes thing was specific to my dealership "chain" called Lithia.

10K is basically engine oil change, inspections, wiper blades and an interior filter.
20K adds a brake fluid change to the 10K service
30K is a repeat of 10K
40K is a big one. as I posted earlier. Take the 20K and then add a transmission fluid and filter service and also replace LSD fluid. And there's a ton more inspections (an entire page of additional time-burning inspections)
$0.02

Fundamentally, the price of the big service (40K) doesn't make sense if that's a dealer and they performed all the items on the service list at 40K.

According to my dealer (FWIW), on a *2012*,
- the LSD is a 2.5k and 60k service.
- tranny fluid change is either at 40k or 60k depending on the type and state of the fluid (apparently there are cars out there with two different fluids requiring two different intervals).
- the tranny fluid change is $325
- they call the 40k mile service "Service B" instead of "Service D" because of those two conditionals.
So, given that this is on a 2012 with no transfer case or front diff, my information may not be relevant to this discussion. But at worst, I expect to pay the $325 more for the transmission fluid swap, making the total around $2000 for 40k miles.

I figured it was worth calling my dealer, since it would be nice to avoid the surprise of a $1100 service coming up next (Im at 32k).

Seems like I'm always getting my wallet squeezed hard at 40K. My old ML350BTC... that transmission was an awfully spendy service. Wish i hadn't done it right before it was sold.
I wouldn't be surprised one bit if the single 40K service ran well north of $1K on an E63S.

Prices are suggested retail prices and certain dealers are known to discount. Once purchased it can be used at any dealer. It also "locks" in the price of the maintenance which can vary dealer to dealer (or day to day).

Once agreeing to the price of a vehicle, I have always saved until the very end of our discussion to ask the dealership to throw in 4 years of pre paid maintenance as part of the deal. I have not been rejected by the dealer on the request with the most recent 4 MBs. Wish I had thought of asking for it earlier. I realize my post doesn't answer your original question but I thought it could help for the next purchase. Nice ride.

Thanks for all the feedback -- I think I need the dealership to sell me harder on the value. From the posts above, I'm not sure it's worth $2375. Quote from the dealer "There is far more profit built into the extended warranties than on the pre-paid maintenance. You can believe me or not, but there's a total of $100 mark-up on the pre-paid maintenance plan."

For what it's worth, was talking to a finance manager about profit on the warranties. Told me the 7/75k cost the dealer 5700 and the lowest price I've gotten so far is 5900. So yes, a little more expensive than what ubers was able to get his for. Lucky *** '14 owners!

I paid $3200 for a 7/125k ELW from the local dealership I bought my car from after they price matched the gal named Erin (in Austin? SanDiego?) who is listed elsewhere on the site.

Yeah, it was mentioned in this thread the mb recently overhauled their warranty pricing. And it was a big one. The quotes I've gotten are from some of the guys recommended in this and the mb extended warranty thread. The only one I haven't talked to yet is Erin. Been trying for 10 days now, she really is hard to get a hold of. If anyone has heard cheaper lately, PLEASE let me know.

I spoke to Erin last week after trying to reach her for a solid two weeks. I purchased a 7yr/100k mile extended warranty for $6400. I also purchase the Wheel & Tire Plus package for $1700. Only last year I purchased a 7yr/75k EW for my wife's 2011 E63 for $3200.
