steering groans in the morning

has anyone else noticed the steering groaning at almost full cut while backing out of the garage....happens in both directions, and then dissipates

havent noticed any difference in performance though, and no fluid leaks

car is 3 yrs old next week, is it just age

2014 E63S
Its a 2014 E63, but this is what they found when I had my car serviced for the same type of issue, especially when backing up. It was a year old. I'm not quite sure what that LI32 reference is.

I don't have the groans but first few full turns in the morning while at low rpms I have a heaviness in the steering only at the extremes of wheel rotation in either direction, also occasionally heaviness in steering (as if no power support) when coming out of Eco and quickly turning the wheel.

My e550 never did this

thanks for the service receipt, that really helps us always

ill keep an ear on the noise and see if it was just because it was cold in morning, or might be issue

still trying to deal with the front headlight V haze...gettting nowhere with that

about the lights, not yet

so far, it was just service adviser who i have used for a long time to evaluate, take pics, look at other used E classes in his lots that also have the V haze....he was gonna put the info together and was supposed to submit it MB and see what happens....i havent heard back

when i showed him the TSB we had posted here, he said that had nothing to do with the Vhaze issue and was somethign totally different ??

i can email him and see if he even replys, or blows it off, or is actually interested i helping.

I can say with 100+% certainty that it has nothing to do with power steering fluid.

I have it in mine also. I have to full lock to get out of my garage also. it's high 20's low 30's here in the mornings. I dont worry too much about it since it goes away by the time I'm out of the neighborhood. I just try not to turn the wheels unless they're moving to help alleviate stress.
My car will be 4 next month. 02/2011 build date.

I've had multiple cars do the same thing on me pulling out of the garage. Hell, my Audi a4s cv-joints click once or twice when pulling out early mornings at full lock. It's just the grease being cold.

These e63's are heavy broads. I chalk it up to that. If it did it after more than 2 minutes of driving, then I'd be concerned.

The power steering pump's on the amg's tend to fail a lot. They are not built as durable as they should especially the release valve.

Mine does it bad when it's cold outside and the car hasn't been warmed up. Going to mention it to my dealer and see what they can do about it as it gets pretty annoying. I don't even know how loud it is on the outside.

Had this exact issue. Dealer changed 2 Ball bearings and 2 coil springs. Dealer said it was coming from the struts. Hope this helps

mr car is 2014 with 3000 miles. it happens most often when cold but some of the time when warmed up

wheel at 3/4 lock and then turning again to position for backing out of garage =
grooooooaaaaaaaaaan and then it is gone

Dealer might say "it is a high performance car with lots of hydraulics so that is normal"

That is odd for a new car. Mine is three years old. 28000 miles. I've noticed the noise past 2 months

longest groan yet. after working out started car, put it in Reverse with foot on brake and as I let off the brake one continuous groan/moan but wheel was straight and no turning just straight backing out. maybe it is the CCB?

Update - I admit I sound a little complaint-y about this but I also love going into the garage and seeing the superwagon each AM, it is a symbol of hardwork and motivates me each day. Although I would be so stressed out if it were outside of warranty. I am grateful for sure to get to enjoy this thing, and the groaning is just part of the fun. Even my oil leak didn't bum me out that hard.

There is some lesson in this for me about owning an even more super supercar (outside of warranty).
