Finally Flashed and Dyno'd the E63.

Hey guys,

So when I bought the car last year it was completely stock with just the P30 package. Within the first week I went to Speedriven our local Chicago Mercedes Tuners and bought a set of catless downpipes. It defiantly opened the car up some and made it sound way better!

So I decided I'm going to sell the car and I felt like I did all the right things to it. But then I realized that I should just pony up and get the flash. I really didn't think I needed it because it already had the p30 package and honestly feelt that I would get my moneys worth like someone with a non p30 car. Boy was I wrong. I didn't think a flash could wake this car up this much. Wow. So much more low end TQ. I did OEM Spark plugs from Mercedes that same week and new air filters.

Here is a quick iPhone video I took. I also took a picture if the dyno graph. Im not sure if anyone else had the issue we had but the car kept on wanting to spin the tires down low. Just for a reference guys my old 2005 e55 with a flash and kleemann headers put down 408WHP on this dyno.

Also, if anyone is interested the car is for sale. I know I will regret selling this car. This was my 3rd AMG.

This was a 4th gear pull that spun a little down low.

And i believe this was a 3rd gear pull rolling into it

Let me know if those video links don't work.

Your car looks very nice and clean! Your dyno graph, on the other hand, not so much. I'm not sure what brand of tune you bought, but the torque curve drops off dramatically after the peak at approx. 2,500 rpm. I suggest that you get the car re-dyno'd to verify that you are not getting wheel slippage, and assuming you're not, then go back to the vendor and get it addressed.

wait so with a tune u have 507 to the engine?? thats what you make stock

check your alleged tune

I'm assuming that's 507rwhp, however, judging from the picture that's the m157 motor...With a rough 15% drive train loss that's still less than 600 brake horsepower. So your gained less than 50 bhp from a tune and downpipes, but then again your torque shot up at 2500 (roughly) rpm range then plummeted down.

My stock car dynoed at 504/537 HP/trq

Wonder how accurate the numbers were motortrend did in their online test with the e63s and m5. They got 540 all wheel horsepower on the m157 e63S, factory, which can be anywhere between 650 to 675 hp at the motor.

the op dyno'd on a dyno dynamics aka "heartbreaker", not a dynojet that most people are thinking of....

dyno dynamics typically read about 11-15% lower so if he dyno'd on a dynojet the whp would of been about 570 to 585 whp

Makes sense then the numbers sound about right with the horsepower, why do dyno dynamics dynos show such lower numbers though? Curious seems odd as to why it would misrepresent.

it is a load based dyno rather than the inertia based of the dynojet, and they are generally considered more accurate and better for tuning than dynojets

Yea sorry this dyno is a huge heart braker my b7 rs4 put down 268whp while others were like 320whp and the old e55 w211 with kleemann pulley, tune and headers did 408whp on this machine. On the other pull We did to try In 5th it did 523whp but I didn't post that one. Also, I told the tuner I wanted a pretty mild conservative tune...

vdubpower Nov 21, 2015 02:13 AM

who did your tune/?

ML63 AMG Nov 21, 2015 03:32 PM

Switch over to Eurocharged, you will make more. They got much higher numbers on a dyno dynamics too

Nice car. With the money your willing to take on selling your car and getting another monster. Get the AMS Alpha 9 tune and you will thank yourself.

Raced a white BMW i8 yesterday. You know the drill, you'll get call out allot so I took it up me to entertain myself and took the challenge first from a rolling start about 35 and took him to 100mph. Then we got to a light and the guy wanted more so I initiated the RS launch and the i8 gave up after hitting 120.

Good luck.

you do know that an i8 is not that fast yes?
A stock 63 should win and win good i gather just an example of what they put out

I was looking at the BMW i8 performance data on this:

http://m.caranddriver.com/bmw/i8
0-60@ 3.6

Pretty fast stock.

0-60 is not an area I would challenge in a turbo upgraded rwd 5.5 Biturbo AMG. As your little :report: will be blinking to no end :D

but seriously rolling, you should eat it alive, so yes not an issue.

Sorry. I was comparing a stock E63 with a 0-60 time vs. the i8.
