Items to fix before warranty expires
Hi there - My original warranty will expire in March 2016 and I'd like to take the car in for service and complain about 'common' items so they can fix/replace as much as possible under warranty - do you all have some tips and/or advice for me? The car is a 2012 E63, P30. I have the "v" in the headlamp lenses and will look to get those replace based upon other threads i've read. I have also heard to complain of roughness from the motor for possible motor mount replacement... Anything else i can mention to the service adviser that will allow me to get the most of out of the expiring warranty with minimal to no out of pocket $$$?
I should add that I have had rough downshifts lately in Drive mode and appreciate any guidance or direction on that as well.
Thanks!!!!

If you're worried about it, why not add up to 3 years worth of extended warranty? I think you can still buy it if you still have some of the original warranty left. There are several threads that mention various dealers in the US that discount their prices on extended warranties.

+ 1 on the secondary battery.
For those of you who have gotten a new headlamp lens replaced because of the "V" issue. Did it come back? I had mine replaced about six months ago and I can see it again.

I feel light-mild vibrations in steering wheel when vehicle is driven over 80-85mph (Anybody have any thoughts on this? Alignment? Normal?)
Headlight lens replacement (due to V)
Potential headlight bulbs burning too bright
Battery & Secondary battery
Checkup on moonroof bolts and possible re-torquing. Moonroof job from 6 months ago has solved the infamous cracking noise but has created new rattling noise in rear left passenger door as a result

I'd ask them to check on the "purge valve" that causes the "ticking noise" as well.. not sure if your start-up idling is loud, but it seems to be a common enough of a problem as the car ages.

Let us know how it goes... I had vibration as well, got some new tires a few weeks ago and that really reduced the vibrations i feel. Upon install, they told me both front wheels had minor dents which could also lend to this vibration.

Mine is going into Autobahn motors in Belmont tomorrow at 9AM. Here's what I have my service FA looking into:

Vibrations - wheel balancing is needed and I will fix at my own Indy Shop
Headlight lens V - lens itself are not covered (not what I read on forums), but they cleaned the inside of the lens and removed the V stain. I was told the V will return sooner or later. Any permanent fix to this?
Battery/Secondary battery - checked and both in great shape
Rear left passenger door creaking noise - door seal was dry (replaced) and another small piece in door was loose (tightened). Rattle noise is gone for now

UPDATE: Took the car into dealer for B service (that's a cool $1500 in the SF Bay Area). Got the horrible "V" cleaned off the inside and expecting to see it back again soon based upon previous posts but at least it looks good now. Also, I had complained about loud ticking when starting cold and the solution was to replace chain tensioners and check valves because oil was draining when cold and not remaining atop the engine. So far, so good. Asked about a TCU reset and was told it's not needed the car is allegedly always adapting to my crazy driving habits.
I am out of warranty next month and no love for an ELW since my car was not CPO... however, knocking on wood that nothing major comes along (2yrs now and no issues). That's all for now.

Oakland MB quoted me $1275
Autobahns service website says $702
Are you happy with what they did?

Yes, Autobahn. Happy, no, not really. I wish someone could recommend a really good local indy; when i had my 911 i took it to a second-generation master Porsche mechanic who was incredible.
I go to AB because they are close. In typical dealer fashion they did try to sell me a brake job for my rear brakes ($1200) but the alert hasn't even come on yet and I called a local Indy in San Carlos who quoted me $650 (pads, rotors, labor). I take my wife's CLK550 into AB and I'm always underwhelmed. Last time they wanted $900 to check the fuse behind the Command unit which stopped working; I went to the CLK forum and found a DIY - did it myself in 20min; "reset" the fuse (unplug/replug) and everything was back to normal. I provided feedback to the Dealer and to MB USA and haven't gotten a response, no surprise. Love the MB cars but un-impressed with dealer service.
I'm going to look at Eurotech in San Carlos for next service which will probably be the CLK.

Mine came back, not really worth the hassle to fight about it unless they just do it. When I got my 2011 it was 2 weeks from warranty. I brought it to a local indy who checked it out for free. Very nice place just wish they were opened on weekends and they said to tell them that I saw the check engine light on even though I never did when I drove it 1300 miles from Chicago where i picked it up to Florida. Anyway, it turned out there was a bad oxygen sensor that they replaced under warranty. So that being said, I would tell them you saw the check engine light come on so they fully check it out. Just tell them it came on for a minute and went off and you don't have any other details.

I've been going to Tony at Mercedes Exclusively in San Jose off Kiely and Stevens Creek for years. (http://www.yelp.com/biz/mercedes-exc...y-inc-san-jose) He's been working on my 2004 e500. He is honest, his prices are great and he fixed some problems the dealer couldn't/wouldn't. I've only had my 2012 e63 for 5 months and still under CPO warrantly so he hasn't seen it yet but he will eventually.
