So went out to dinner with my buddy and his wife and took a friendly race bet for $500. Who do you think got the $.
I know some members got this car so you'll be the first to guess.

I was about a half car length behind up to 30mph, then I was about 1 and a half car length ahead from there up to 110mph on a wide open road.

Me too, but my wife was too busy holding on to her dear life and I needed both hands, lol. I do wish I took a picture of my friend when he handed me the $500 though. I am really happy with my tune and I can really feel the way the TCU performed.

AMG GT S & E63 S AMG
After hearing this, I am really thinking about getting the Alpha 9 turbos, along with their downpipes, exhaust and intake on my E63. 900HP on the AWD platform will be a beast. Wife would kill me for spending another $30K after just ordering the GT-S though, which is also gonna be needing upgrades.
BTW, do you remember how many hours of labor it took for the turbo swap?

If you crave for the power, doubt no more. A stock GT-S will not be able to keep up. I know because I took one to the cleaners.
I got my as a package deal and they had my car for a day. If I remember correctly, I believe the actual labor time was 7 hours.
Growing up, I always believe Ferrari Lamborghini and Porsches was the fastest cars in the world. Times have changed and we are beating the heck out of the super cars in a 4 door sedan.

AMG GT S & E63 S AMG
That's good to know. It will have to be a fine balance between getting mods for the E63 and the GT-S. Ultimately, I would like to have the turbo upgrades for both cars. Got another question about your Alpha 9 E63, besides the Weistec TCU upgrade, did you do anything else to the transmission like the upgraded clutch packs? If not, do you think you need it in the future to handle all the power? Have you asked AMS or Weistec to see what their opinion is? Thanks!

Honestly. I haven't gave much of a thought about it. I did ask my dealer friend when I first got the Renntech ECU tune and DP a while back and I was told the transmission was built to hold the power because obviously the stock turbos wasn't being built to maximum boost.
It might be worth to look into it further for obvious reason. I'm sure AMS will say yes for sales reason. Have you done any study and if yes. Can you share your findings. Thanks.

AMG GT S & E63 S AMG
The last time I talked to AMS about this, they were in the process of putting the Alpha 9 turbos into their shop development car which is a 2014 model. They were planning to install the turbos first and then see if the stock transmission will handle the added power. I have not talked to them since, but apparently the turbos are now in the car and it has been running around the Chicago area. I am not sure if they decided to beef up the tranny or not. However, I have heard that the 722.9 MCT transmission was designed to handle about 1000 lb/ft of torque, so I think we are getting close to that limit. It seems like you drive the car pretty hard, so I am guessing that the stock tranny is still good. It is only the longevity that I worry about.

Personally, I think it is something to look into, but I know AMS don't have a clutch pack available on their website so seems that is not of importance to the development of the AMG lineup.
I do push my car to the limit at times and so far it's holding up nicely. It is not my daily driver because I try to alternate between my cars, but nothing feels even close to the E63. The S65 has a nice muscle car sound, but it'll be left in more than a few cars behind the race against the E63.

2019 E63 S
As you know I have both cars but they are both tuned. My 2014 911 Turbo S is faster than my E63 with Renntech tune but to get there I had to upgrade the intercoolers to Champion intercoolers, put on a catless exhaust and do the GIAC stage 2+. But in a quarter-mile there is no comparison-- the Turbo S is much faster. Launch control is just far far superior to the E63.
My E63's best quarter mile was 11.1 seconds at 127.56 mph. My Turbo S's was 10.316 at 132.
When I just had the GIAC Stage 2 and stock intercoolers and high flow cats my 991 TTS torched my E63 in a 1600 foot roll race from 60 mph at Pocono Raceway (Slipstream) by many car lengths on their first run when they were cool. But due to massive heat soak power loss, my E63 S beat my 991 TTS on every subsequent run. Now, with upgraded intercoolers, Tubi catless race exhaust and GIAC Stage 2+ my 991 TTS destroys my E63 S in every roll race. Similar, 2 full Weistec turbo upgrade CLS63s (about 850-900 crank bhp) could not beat my 991 TTS (with its current mods) from a 20 mph roll race at Atco

It wasn't a fair race and both drivers know of my tunes. It was more of a ego thing thinking a Porsche turbo can win any race. Glad my heavy sedan prove my friend wrong.

Don't know if the power was different from your 911 Turbo from my friend's 2015 model, but for $200,000 on the Porsche against my orginal MSRP of $120,000 and the mods I put in. I felt it was a fair race considering it was against a 2 door super car. I am mostly proud my 4 door sedan sitting 4 comfortably can even consider taking on a race against a Porche let alone a 911 Turbo.
Get the AMS Alpha 9 package and all will be forgotten.

That much power from the Alpha combined with RWD will no doubt give a major edge over the AWD 911TS at high speed pull.
