Well I just had a tire blowout in Austin TX 6 hours from home. A lead on a 285/30/20 tire in Austin would be GREATLY appreciated. Already missing out on work tomorrow

Had 4 choices of tire in the 285/30/20 yesterday. Had to get something fast to get back home.
Some Nexan tire (didn't want)
Nitto NT555
Continental ExtremeContact DWS06
Michelin PSS Run Flat
The nittos had iffy reviews, the nexan was a no go for sure, and the michelin was a runflat, and with the price being right at $1000 for two rear tires mounted, i passed, and went with the Continental for $400 less. So far so good. Seems very grippy. I'm not crazy about the tread design but that shouldn't really matter. The 285/30 seems to fit better, filled up alot of that gap i had in the rear.
I need to quit driving this thing so much, it's addicting. I've put 12k miles on it in under 5 months

Ah, I see you headed back to Austin again. Good that you finally got things sorted out. I guess no one who knows Austin well enough was around at the time. You might want to post on the C63 W204 forum if you want a faster response--there are much more traffic over there.
Personally, I would also go for Conti DW or DWS so I think you made a good choice. For my next set, I'm planning on sticking with DWS. Of course, I am a chicken so I like to stick to oem sizes, and I prefer the smallest rim diameter that will fit so I have more "cushion" via a bigger sidewall--especially on a long road trip.
So what happened? Did you hit debris or pothole that caused the blowout?

I really have no clue man. Was rolling on down highway 79 at about 80 mph. "tire defect" came up on the dash. Car seemed to be riding fine, but tire pressure was rapidly dropping. I'm talking from 40psi to 0 in 15 seconds. Pulled over, and the inside of the right rear tire was destroyed. Wire hanging out and the whole inner sidewall blown out. Luckily it wasn't long enough to do any wheel damage. I rode for about 2 miles on the shoulder with the bad tire off in the grass until I got to a point where I could jack the car up and install the spare. Then I limped back to Austin for the night

Update: new owner of old truck already blew the engine up
The tires were not new. That's where I went wrong I suppose. New tires have been great so far. They tend to roll slightly more than the Hankook but oh well.
Sitting at 115k miles now due for a third oil change. Does anyone know what each of the service numbers consists of? Mine says A2 due, which I believe means 2 hours. Then I have "service 1,3,4,8,10 that need to be done. Im pretty positive 1&3 are oil and filter, but what are the others?

3rd oil change? I change my synthetic oil every 15k.

i'm going to stretch this oil change out a little longer. I usually change every 5k. i changed it last at 110,080 now im at 116,1xx on the clock.
Just went on vacation to Colorado last week and left the car at MB of Plano. Got them to flush the brake fluid and check over the rest of the car. They said all is good other than the fact i need air filters. So that's good to hear.
Also installed ROW airboxes a few weeks back. The *** dyno notices a slight difference.
Question. Has anybody had problems with the glovebox on these models? The right side of my glovebox seems loose. closes fine, but when opening and closing it isn't as fluid as it was before. it clicks and pops occasionally. Also is loose when opened, so the glovebox light will not come on.

Either my alignment is out of line or these things just eat tires. My front tires are showing wires and were new when I got the car

Most likely the alignment is off. Make sure to check the toes. What tires were they? It's time for a set of DWS for the front! MB of Plano?!...I was there 4 weeks ago.

update: about to roll over 120,000 miles
brought the car to eurocharged in austin, tx for a rear diff fluid change, transmission service, and alignment.
still trying to figure out how to fix my loose glovebox.
next mods:
dvd in motion
hopefully some COMAND update
55tech 1-fin grille (anybody else using this? comments?)
also considering a small wheel spacer in the front. what do you guys think? i posted a picture below. the front wheel is sucked in a tad more than the rear. just want to push it out slightly. Anyways, on to the pics
Cleaned my interior up some and snapped some pictures
Here is how my front tires sit at the moment. I'd like for them to be ever so slightly wider
Thought this was neat, a picture of me *attempting* to wash my dad's '96 S420. This was probably in '97 or /98

Ha! thanks man. i actually DID NOT want a car with the carbon trim, until i saw it in person. Now, i should be beating myself for not wanting it. Mine also has it on the console, around the HVAC controls, and on the bottom of the door panels which i believe costs a little more. Steal my carbon trim and i'm taking your suspension setup and hood

So the weather finally cooled off here, and I figured I'd take a shot at fixing my glove box. The dampening was not working and the glove box light was flickering.
As can be seen here the dampner was no longer connected to the glove box.
Also, the wires to the light were ripped, I suppose from the dampner not being in place.
I took the plug apart and soldered the wires back together
Then, somehow I found a screw that fit perfectly. Putting that in did fix the dampner, but there still is a slight bit of slack in my glove box somewhere. Not near as bad as it was though. Saved $500-600 by not buying a new glovebox, nice.
