How good is Distronic Plus With Steering Assist in stop-and-go gridlock/congestion?

Will it take some of the pain of my commute away?

its ok; after a certain amount of time braking you'll have to initiate acceleration by gently pressing accelerator to re-start the automated driving so for that reason, among others, you need to stay engaged

i didn't feel like it made my bumper to bumper traffic commute that much better

is a nice novelty most of the time

That doesn't sound too bad. Will it actively steer at those low speeds? My biggest worry is rear-ending someone in the exhaustion of stop and go traffic.

love it in stop/start traffic, complete hands off below 30km/h. Fortunately I don't spend too long in that sort of traffic each day.

ive used mine traveling to Maryland and in stop and go traffic it works great 90% of the time, have to give it some gas to close the gap sometimes.

As I have a 2012 I never knew the newer models steered as well, this would be great! My 12 has lane assist and steers me back in my lane, I wonder why it can't steer at low speed with distronic +.

Used it yesterday for some 25km traffic jam, getting out of Munich after the Octoberfest. Works like a charm. I had cars cut in front of me and the car immediately slowed down and kept the right distance.
I feel the car stops too close to the car in front. I personally keep a bit more distance. Unfortunately, it's not adjustable with the turning knob on the lever.
I have the distronic set to the max. allowed speed limit so when the traffic eases, I don't have to keep adjusting upwards. To reengage the drive command from a full stop, you have 2 options, step on the gas or pull the distronic lever towards you.
I noticed that when the gearbox is really hot, the initial start is kind of jerky in C mode. S mode cures it as it's taking off in first gear.
