Are these stage 1 or stage 2 clutches? Same number as OEM or more friction plates?

Exactly what gaspam said. They stand up to some good abuse.

These are made by exedy exclusively for AMS. You can see the alpha logo on the face of them.

We get a good discount from AMS so we pass the savings onto the customer.

What's the install cost on those clutch packs? Coming from my 911...The clutch cost itself was the least scary part haha.

I asked about this, and this is specific to Canada. Eurocharged has different tunes so if you buy a Houston tune you'll get a file that Jerry did (most likely) and if you get the Canadian EC tune you'll get something else. They do offer a less aggressive and more aggressive tune in Canada (similar to what Renntech does) so that's why Canada specifically has a designation for stg 1 or stg 2. The aggressive tune requires a fresh set of spark plugs and you'll have to replace them more frequently than the stg 1.

But all EC tunes are not the same.

yes that's exactly what the shop told me.

But I wonder whats the difference really between the Houston EC tune and stg2 EC tune here and which would run stronger?

im guessing both are probably very close.

The stg1 tune I would say almost nobody bothers with that file.

If I had to guess, Houston / stateside tunes are a bit more rich and on the safer side whereas the Canadian stg 2 leans things out. As for Renntech, I'd bet their stage 1 is more rich than a stateside EC tune and their Renntech stg2 is about the same as a stateside EC tune. Then I'd say stateside EC is about the equivalent to Canada stg 1 and Canada stg 2 would be the most aggressive out there.

Again though, I'm sure it just has to do with leaning and timing.

I also don't think Canadian consumers are as much of a pain in the *** as stateside consumers can be so they play things a little safer down here. But that could be way off and just how I imagine things in my head. After all, a quick stroll through target for something simple down here is quite revealing to how high up everyone is on their own damn horse.

I would be interested to see how my car stacks up against another EC tuned car that is on a Houston file but I'm pretty confident I wont get the chance as there aren't really any E63S' around me. The only chance I have is if/when my brother gets a CLS63. They'd all be very close I'm sure at the end of the day so does it really matter? For a car that is well on its way to 5000lbs while you're in it DDing it moves plenty good.

I received that exact clutch kit from Shardul today. Super fast shipping and he took care of a little hiccup that was my fault. Also I believe Im paying $800 to our trans guy to go through it and also install the clutches. That isn't removing the trans from the car since we dropped the whole cradle since we are doing other upgrades..

Usually shops will charge 1000 to 1500 plus fluids and filters.

That's not bad at all.

And, I notice one benefit is the clutch will have more friction.
Which mean it will be more engaged.

Does it make transmission snappier ? quicker ? and improve performance ?

It makes the engagement more direct.
Most people choose to do a TCU tune while the transmission is being built because the TCU has to be removed.

Is tcu tune on the biturbo a thing? Last I read, only GAD was able to tune it but everyone else is still trying to figure it out.

+1 ... last i heard only gad cracked it.... i would love for it to be true that other's have cracked it and able to remove the trans lag as that would be a game changer for the M157 platform
