First read from Mercedes on the 2018 E63 AMG
Looks to be coming out this summer and what really catches my attention is the 0 to 60 time of 3.3 Seconds~~~Plus the cylinder deactivation in conjunction with the 9 speed automatic could have this car getting over 25 mpg on the highway although epa numbers are not available as yet. https://www.mbusa.com/mercedes/futur...ALLERY-ID|0|19

Power is impressive. I'm not a fan of the look though. It seems every new car from mercedes gets less aggressive looking

"AMG sport suspension based on AIR BODY CONTROL"
Does that mean they're going back to full Airmatic? |

Not a fan of cylinder deactivation....Honda had major issues with theirs a few years ago.

I could see it complicating power delivery with the turbos. We'll see how it goes.

The power is really not that impressive. I doubt that it will dyno as high as the W212 E63 S which was quite under rated. However, I agree that MB has made a big mistake with the design. It is not nearly as muscular and aggressive looking as the W212 and looks far too similar to the current C class. Personally, I am elated that I purchased the last year of the W212. If I had to replace it with something similar, I'd be shopping at an Audi dealership.
please don't say that ugly RS7. |
The front end looks pretty angry, but the ass looks like the newer C-class (not a fan). The interior is interesting. Not exactly luxury looking, but maybe that was their point? I dunno. I'll never be able to afford one so it doesn't matter to me. lol :-)

You will be able to, due to the natural depreciation curve of cars like this.

You'll just have to get the wagon which doesn't have the same "melty rear end" issues that the sedans do.

As far as cylinder deactivation: I'm guessing it doesn't happen if you drive in S+... like the current auto shut-off. Before I even put on my seat belt, I twist the dial to S+. So a bit of a non-issue. Looking forward to W213 wagon. |
