Anyone tried W210 E55 Monoblock wheels on W/S212?
Im tempted by the idea of running some old school AMG Monoblock wheels on my pre-facelift S212 E63 as a winter setup. The W210 E55 wheels seem like they'd fit the bill: 18x9 ET 35 which means no issues with fender or strut clearance. My only question is if that chunky spoke design would interfere with the front calipers... anyone tried this that can report back? I can't find pictures either. Surprised noones tried these or the early S Class 19" Monoblocks.

Yes, I tried it. Sadly, the monoblocks will not work. 18" won't even clear the rear calipers, and on the 19" the offset is too high, and the front calipers touch the spokes. You would need to run 15mm-20mm spacers, and at those torque numbers that was a risk I wasn't willing to incur.

May I ask you to confirm for clarity... you purchased the rear W210 E55 wheels blindly and test fit (kudos if so) or did you have a wheel template (cardboard cutout) to lay against the hub?
A user named 'svb' is selling the rare 19's on MBWorld classifieds... with those offsets I assumed spacers would be needed but I agree, 15mm+ usually needs something like a hub extender and anyway is far too sketchy for my preference in even a lighter/lower-powered car.

My man. As I suspected, though it is disappointing. I'm still going to mock it up on Photoshop... the lines with the angular pre-facelift I imagined would look really neat.

This was my photoshop... hard to look at it, because it would have been sooooo good.

Besides...the car is slow enough as it is. The last thing it needs are heavier wheels!

Waiting until spring to do so!
I drive a '11 e350 wagon & recently purchased some monoblocks to put on come springtime. They are staggered 18s. I'm almost positive they came off a SL500 at some point. Too goo in condition & too much of a good deal to turn down. I think I'll have no problems. If anything I'll buy a classic diesel mb & throw the blocks on whatever I get. Always wanted to get a car older than me! I'll get a picture with the wheels lined up next to the wagon & hopefully them on in March!

Yeah ^ as Ruffy says, it just won't fit. I tried the 18" monoblocks from my W124 Cabrio....
However...I suppose if one really wanted to do this, you could always take the wheels to a machine shop and have the holes enlarged to M14? I'm not sure if the taper of the bolt seat will be an issue after though.
I'd be more enthused to do this if the 18" wheels were actually lighter than my 19" forged, but yeah no they're about the same with tyres fitted.

I too am interested in the older wheels and was thinking of going with Carlsson again.
Larger wheels with better fitment options and possibly not have the need for spacers.

Man the ride quality with the monoblocks is insane. I basically glide on roads. Old Benz wheels were just built different, as the cars. I bought some h&R springs to put on the front.. going see how it feels/looks before I **** with the bags in the rear

Agreed. I had them on various vehicles. MB as a whole was simply better back in the day. There was almost a decade of darkness where MB really fell-off and I felt one was simply paying for the badge.
The W210 is probably one of my favorite MB products of all time and to this stay looks the part and interior has held up well. W/S212 face lift going forward things got much better.
