Heres mine, I used silicone hoses from an Australian company on eBay, they are 76mm / 3” diameter one is 23 degree elbow the other 45 degree and they are perfect. The 23 degree needs cutting to length but they fit well onto the plastic adapter pieces and are flexible enough to take the necessary contour on my GL63. Some layouts may be slightly different so please check for yourself, I made some templates first to be sure abd the results are great.

The 45 degree elbow could have been about 10mm longer for my liking but it still fit fine, just dont cut anything off it.

Thanks

Carl

I havent, the pipes are a nice tight fight and they hold there shape once installed but with enough flex for engine movements on start up and hard throttle.

So far theyre still seated as per my install, I am going to watch for any movement, but Im hopeful so far.

Worked for me but took some care, attention and research to get the bends I needed for a GL63 engine bay layout, not sure if its the same for other M157’s

Im happy even though shipping to the UK was as much as the parts themselves so about £75 GBP to get these

I guess you could consider a high temp silicone as an adhesive but sounds like they aren't going anywhere

Sharing my version of the install using the same Spectre Inlet kit (#8741) as mentioned above.
I left more than enough tubing inside to make it a tight pressured fit this way it may avoid the silicone coupler from falling off or getting lose. While I am far from a professional at any of this I feel it looks better than the OEM installation and should last a much longer than those felt Tesa Tape wrapped tubes.

Looks good, glad you got it sorted.

In other news, my mod has held up to the summer temps here in Dubai 😎

2012 E63 wagon
Hi, I have the same problem with my W212 E63 wagon Air intake pipe. I think I will just replace them with OEM ones. Are they hard to replace?

BTW, I just discovered this this morning after spending $600 mechanic claimed to be an oxygen señor issue. Replaced the sensor and labor. Incompetent shop/ misdiagnosed problem?

Thanks

Added this to the list of items to repair/replace as a new 218 owner.

Took me 1.5 hours for one side, 15 minutes on the other side. Ordered the Spectrum 3” intake tubes and cut to fit. Looks great (as seen in above pics) but pissed it took me so long to fit them. Took a hair dryer to the rubber and softened it.

Before this was the Cam sensor replacement. Easy fixes and saves yourself a lot of $.

I am a fan of intake noise, but, aren't the filters banging around?

Amr c63 what did you use for your pipe mod?

Back here again with a GLS63 this time, Id assumed the smoother internals of a silicone pipe would be best but these look real nice

Thanks

hello, regarding the air filter pipe , i have a cls63s with the same issue.. does it affect the performance of the car if i continue driving it with this issue?

I drove for a month in October without the ducts. No perceptible difference in performance. With ambient temps dropping and ram effect, it will matter even less. I am sure that I would not set a M157 record without 'colder' air, but the IAT rise is negligible. Agree with the sentiment. Poor longevity of the fabric air ducts. Get new OEM ones for around $100. Will last you another 5 years. I am working to fit DIY aftermarket 2-ply fiberglass and silicone duct because I have nothing better to do.

W212 E63 AMG

I swapped mine out when they were a bit tatty for some 76mm silicone tube that I cut to length abs squeezed over the original end fittings.

W212 & W218 both have M157 Engine. How come this fits W212 but doesn't fit W218?
