Maybe a 2012 E63 AMG wagon
Need help in possible 2012 E63 AMG Wagon Purchase

To all,

I have owned several great cars and one that I have not is a 2008 Audi RS8 Convertible.

Looking to add a 2012 E63 AMG wagon to the garage. I found one locally that is damn nice, black on black with 32k miles, all service records and the original window sticker. It is not the S version, just the standard 525HP model.

I have stayed up nights reading all I can about these cars and I know what I may be getting into, and all is good.

I think I know what a fair price is, but I would love to get some opinions from people that own these cars.

From what I have read, I have seen comments on these being mid $40s cars. That is a bit under what the dealers wants at $52k.

Please comment early and often. I am on the verge of making an offer, and will stick to my guns, even if I do not get the car.

Thanks all!!! Dave in Gig Harbor

I believe you mean the E63 Wagon your looking at is the 518hp none P30 (550hp ) version as the S or none S. model are for 2014 and up E63. I would first look at the options that is on the Wagon your looking at such as Panoramic roof, carbon fiber interior and or exterior. If you like input about the price, I would suggest you post the options on it.

Before you act on that my friend has one on consignment through an MB dealership. It has approximately 9k miles and is 2013 bonus part is it has nearly every possible option available for that year. They're asking $65k but I think at this point they're willing to take any fair and reasonable offer. If you are interested I can put you contact.

Sorry for some mistakes and omissions.

My Audi is a RS4, not an RS8. That was a total brain fart.

As far as the car I am looking at, it is a 2012 E63 518 HP version. The main options that I see are the panoramic roof, carbon fiber interior trim, illuminated sills, then probably some less important stuff. Again it is black interior and black exterior, 31k miles, one meticulous owner and for sale at a dealer.

Asking is 52k, NADA Guides show that is about right, Edmunds shows that as high, several posts here talked about the car as a mid $40's car.

This car is a reach for me, since I just bought the RS4 in February. But I love wagons, love the power and stealth look, loved how the car drove. This will replace our older Audi A4 wagon and a BMW X5. I will miss the AWD and will be adding a beater Suburban if this all comes to pass.

Any guidance from real owners who know these cars better than anyone would be great. I am planning on making an offer this weekend. I would like to be as well informed as possible.

It's very rare, but anyone who has access to aliexpress can own one.

Jimminez,

My best friend has an Audi R8, twin turbo'ed it, and badged it as an Audi RS8. Some logic to that, although not anything Audi ever has done. We had been talking about the naming of his car as well as my interest in the E63, and that may have been the reason for my screw up. Thanks.

Dave the dealer should be able to print a window sticker for you that shows all options... Ooops I see you have it

I had them do it for my '12 ML63.

Your looking at a none P30 AMG Wagon and that is one of the highest cost option for that year. Does it have limited slip? IMHO, that price tag is high.

2018 S560 and 2019 E450 Wagon.
Most people want the P30 and the Distronic option. Those are good options to have.

I'd sell you mine for 52K, thats about as low as I'll go at this point, but I see your clear on the other side of the country and I guess that could be a issue. I'm in Rhode Island.

AMGNEEDSPEED - I did get a peek at the original window sticker and it does have the limited slip and I do not remember seeing Distronic, but I am almost sure it did have that when I was doing a short text drive. Had a friend get me the Mannheim info and their "wholesale" looked to be about $47k, but VERY few cars to base a number off of.

I will probably make an offer tomorrow and see what happens. I may be biting off more than I can chew. At 66 years old, I also figure I want a couple of great cars while I can still enjoy them.

Dave. I would not rush into this deal. I am almost certain you can get a 2012 with that mileage, PP(P30), distronic and limited slip for the same price. Try eBay, a quick look with about the price range. I know it's not a wagon, but it's a 2014 with factory warranty.

Keep in mind the wagons are more than the Sedans, generally about 5 or 6 grand more. It's actually not that bad a deal although the dealer would be asking even more if it had the P30 performance pack and the Distronic. I'd say if the car is in really good shape and you could get it for 47 or 48 grand you'd be doing good.

Thanks everyone for the advice and info. I am going to test drive the car for a second time today when hopefully there is not weekday traffic, make an offer and see what happens. I may be up in the newbie section soon.

I bought my 2012 Wagon in March of this year for $52K. It has the P30 option, carbon fiber package and with 39K miles. Had a PPI done and was perfect. Best car I had even better than my old W211 E63 and 2016 S7 Audi.

I bought my 2012 wagon P30, LSD, Forged wheels (no carbon, no Distronic) with 50,300 miles this year from a dealer for $50k thn paid $1600 to ship it from North Carolina to Southern California. Still saved money compared to anything local. I LOVE IT!!!

If you end up purchasing an e63 wagon I'm sure you are going to love it. If it is a 2012 the only brought 40 to the US that year. When we had ours at the Hilton Head show last year it won the William Hilton award. I was quite surprised because the William Hilton award is for the car that you would most like to drive. It does have every option and was modified by RENNtech. Our was originally opened by the German government and brought by them to the US. So that makes 41 brought here for 2012.

It was previously CPO and just outside the mileage for Mercedes factory warranty. I had it inspected at local Mercedes dealer and inspected the VMI before purchasing. I was also able to get a really good 4yr/48k mile warranty for $3000 or something.

No, no extension.

If you are within the 4/50 original warranty and the car is not covered by CPO, you can purchase the MB ELW.
