Follow up - wipers not working properly
I would like to post a follow up to my previous post regarding "wipers not working properly" on my E6.3 (W212). The car has been at the dealer for a week and they attempted to fix the wippers issue -which was that they are OK if you do single wipes but if they are on for 10 - 20 min (when it rains) they start to shake slowly at the begining, then worse and worse untill they do not wipe anymore. First they attempted to calibrate the wiper arms -did not resolve the issue and then they discovered that the springs were too week and do not put enough pressure on wipers so they ordered new wiper arms (took a few days) . They calibrated the new arms to specs. and told me to use the Mercedes Benz intensive cleaner in the washer reservoir which also lubricates the wipers and they replaced the brand new MB wipers with the TS wipers blades. Pick-ed up the car after a week and I could sense that they were not enthusiastic about the results and I just went out and put a hose on it and run the wipers for ten minutes -perfectly clean windshield, new blades, new arms ajusted to specs....and?! They are still chatering from the very beginning and now they make noise too but if you spray the washer fluid it now and then it seems to improve both the chatering and the noise. You have to spray it quite often thou...
I would have to give the service department an excelent review for effort - I guess they did everything they could but I will have to inform Mercedes Benz that they seem to have a problem with wipers. I do not know how prevalent the issue is. I assume that a lot of people do not complain about and the issue is ignored... and this is too bad because other than this the car is wonderfull.

Thanks for the follow-up Dan. I noticed some chattering when using the wipers at the faster rates, but it doesn't rain often in So Cal so it's rare that I need it for prolonged use. Usually the intermittent mode is sufficient for the drizzle. Sorry to hear that this seems to be a design issue.
