ecu questions
So i’m thinking on buying a 2nd ecu one strictly stock and one tuned. the stocked one would be for passing emissions purposes. so i was wondering if this ecu would work for tuning. it’s coming off a e350 and from my understanding about the ecu it’s all programming no hardware change so if it’s flashed with a tune it should work in theory. has anyone picked up a ecu and did this before?
part number e350 ecu A 276 900 46 00
part number s/e/cls 63 ecu A 278 900 15 00
part number e350 ecu A 276 900 46 00
part number s/e/cls 63 ecu A 278 900 15 00

i understand that. but if it’s strickly coding the ecu and it works with no issues i can save like 700 and use that to tuning the car.

no you can’t install ecu from m276 to m157/m278

For whatever it's worth, The guys at AMS had me send a pic of the label on my ECU and they procured a suitable used one for me for $600. Maybe you are looking in the wrong places with the pricing you mention.

I'm new to the forum and have been window shopping CPO E63S AMG's for a DD replacement. I've read a lot about warranties and was wondering if this how you folks handle dealer visits without violating the warranty? I have a 6th gen Camaro as my summer toy that's putting down over 700rw, so I wasn't planning on doing anything crazy to this car. I don't want to hijack this thread but also wanted to ask which mods are deemed acceptable by dealer service centers (headers for example)? Thanks.

But a tune would not make you fail emissions..only if you go catless and they look for your cats..that's when you would fail..the tunes can't make you fail...or at least didn't make me fail..and many others I talked to

MY17 S63AMG - MBUSA Buyback. MY16 SL63 - Sold MY19 W213 E63s. 2020 W213 E63s Wagon
I would think the governing parameters are different one for turbo engine maps and one for none turbo engine maps? I would just get e E63 M157 ECU to be safe.
