AL Priority laser installation

Again, almost the same answer as FastWgn. Here in Cali it is almost the same with nearly zero efforts to scan a car from the rear. So 3 total sensors in the front, 2 standard toward the outer, and 1 TX toward the middle.

Just reviving this thread due to getting various PM's on the topic. Thought some newer members might find this thread helpful. Especially the guys with the recent threads on radar detectors.

Nice Write-up!! Thanks FastWgn.
For those curious, I am the member he mentioned that designed the 3D optimized brackets. I am more than willing to help out any of you interested to a point. I created these using SolidWorks CAD. If you PM me with an email, I can send you the electronic files. It will then be up to you to have someone convert the file into the appropriate format for the type of 3D printer used (such as .stl, etc) and have them printed. I dialed in the fit for these after about 3 passes. I have files for the standard sensor in both closed and "half circle" (that I call open bottom) and the file for the TX sensor bracket.
FastWgn,
Maybe I missed it, but where did you end up placing the GPS puck?
Thanks Again, and really happy you liked my design.
Cheers!

Give me a day or 2 to round them up. PM me with your email and I can then forward the files to you. I have now had mine mounted for about 18 months and they seem bullet proof. They even hold up in the car wash. I also just had an awesome save by this system 3 days ago! I was so hyped about it I waited 5 minutes knowing the motorcycle cop would still be sitting there and I burned him again for laughs. I passed a road boulder (Prius) at about 75 in a 50 just out of the cop’s eyesight and then hit the brakes and disabled the jammer when the alarm went off. The Prius passed me then and the cop ended up pulling over the Prius!! LMAO. Which was more surprising? That I fooled the same cop twice? Or that a Prius is capable of speeding?

Clearly this assumes you are comfortable installing it yourself. No idea what the installation cost would be.
My brackets have also held up very well. Still perfectly aligned.

My brother that always has my back! Just an update he did send me short Thank You PM for the files. Perhaps he doesn't feel comfortable with a public thank you?
Anyway, he did PM me with one. All is good.

I'm in the process of installing this system on my 2019 Bullitt. I've been playing around in FreeCad designing holders, mostly for the rear installation. Would love to give your design a go as well. Thanks!

Another save!!
Heading up to ski country, leaving Boston around 4.15 AM. Not enough Wazers out there to give you enough intel to avoid the (infamous) NH state trooper traps. They love sitting there and picking MA and ME plates going through the short section of 95 that goes through NH. Pure tax collection, zero safety impact.
Hence taking it a bit slower and hanging in the right lane.
WHAAM!!
Escport and ALP both go off.
ALP says "Stalker" gun and jams. Breaking and hear the cop repeatedly hit me again, now going 60+ (65 mph speed limit).
Ah - the bliss of counter measures. Clearly ALP has now easily repaid the $1,600 entrance fee....

Long overdue - update on my installation. I finally got around to having an Integrated Radenso RCM and ALP installed on my 2016 E63. Due to my paranoia of CHP changing their procedures in the future, I opted to go the 5-sensor route with 3 in the front (including 1 x Tx head) and two in the back.
Big shout out to @Vrodman who helped me in regards to the mounting brackets. The ALP was a big help during my 12 hour marathon trip between the Bay Area and Jackson Hole this summer as I had two saves on the way there and one on the way back.
Very good system and fully recommend it to anyone interested in a countermeasure solution.

Transferred the AL system from my other car. Followed the excellent install instruction in this post with only a few differences. The main led is still a work in progress but I like the location. My grill is an aftermarket replacement so I didn't mind carving holes into it. I wanted the control pad to be easy to reach and well hidden.

The gift that keeps on giving...
Sunday morning - around 7.15 AM, on 95 around Boston (also called 128). Some traffic but not a lot, usually few troopers actively using laser / radar on this road since generally too hard for them to pick out individual cars and then stopping the target safely. Hence standard speed is likely in the 60-70 mph range (speed limit is 55). Well, unless it's rush hour when the speed is 0-10 mph...
Anyhow, left house a bit late for the appointment and hence was moving briskly in the middle lane.
Boom - ALP goes off, "Truespeed", jamming and I of course slow down. Passing trooper who is using the binoculares style laser gun, already looking for his next target.
Made sure to add him to Waze for others behind me.
I think this is likely my 3rd or 4th real save (= "more than warning" above speed limit, no one else around to hide behind, obvious they targeted you). That $1,600 cost is looking like the best mod I ever did to this car!

Nice save. I went even further and added a toggle switch to my cars, eliminating the brake lights.
That was some 25 years ago, when I had my Valentine.
Saved me a few times when the officer saw cars passing me left and right all of a sudden.
I doubt this will work on our cars today.

I purchased two sets a few years ago. In my case, the saves are numerous and I've never had a punch through. I'm amused when they continue to shoot in disbelief as if to say: If I had only hit this guy in the right spot the first time...

Is this a laser detector only? Or does it also detect radar? I know in some states, like Virginia, they have anti detector laws, and they enforce that law with detectors, that detect radar detectors (the radar detector emits radio waves that can be detected). So in those states, you can get a ticket just for having your radar detector turned on. In that case, it would be very beneficial to have an off switch.

The ALP can also be a radar detector, with an extra piece. Many (including me) see a much better value in getting a normal radar detector that is hardwired and placed on the windshield.
There are no radar interference devices on the market since they are highly illegal and regulated by the FCC (that is - it's not just a state but also a federal crime). Laser interference is legal in most states, and even where not, a lot less of a penalty than a speeding ticket.
See Vortex Radar for some great info around this. It's probably the best radar and laser site out there. Vortex
