Ouch! How many miles on your E63 S?
What was wrong with the various parts? Control arms - the bushings? Steering rack - leaking? Thermostat - overheating? Belt tensioner and pulleys - making noise?

Sounds like you hit a rough patch of road or were in a car accident .. these don't seem to be common issues that I read about
or the previous owner abused the car
the tensioner is a common repair
is the car stock, is it tuned? Was it tracked?

Girodisc front rotors and pads are about $1300 total with the MB World discount at Competition Motorsport. Rears are the same price if you get their 2-piece rotors. You can save some money there by getting the Girodisc pads and factory rear rotors for roughly $300.

that doesnt sound like $12k at work unless you're at the stealership
I had a dealership quote me for some of these things and then had an indy shop check and it turns out they blatantly lied and a lot of the stuff didnt need replacing at all
you should have them point it out and show you first. and then whatever parts really do need replacing I urge you to do yourself if you can or go to another shop. Stealership costs are what scare a lot of people away from these cars they really rip people off I have a good friend that was a Head service advisor at a Mercedes Dealership I could go on for days about all the scams..

theres also good aftermarket brake options such as girodisc or racingbrake. but if you Must have OEM I would order the parts online and install elsewhere. It'll be way less than 5k

Control arms walked out. The vehicle was towed by the police when it was with previous owner and they damaged the left front suspension and steering rack. The customer declined the repair and traded the car in. It has 70,000 miles. Thermostat is being changed for a check engine light i got. I am doing the belt tensioner and pulleys because they have some age to them.

i think he is saying that there is theoretically (at dealership pricing $12,000) in work; however he is not paying $12,000 for it, and perhaps an Indy would charge much less if he had to pay cash out of pocket

ok, yet having been working at MB & having a tech friend there he failed to see how beat up the car was and still paid and paying for the previous owners damages.

I dont get why you are presuming things, you know nothing of the situation yet you respond with that negativity. I got the car at a fair price knowing if it needed anything I can do it for very low cost because I work at MB, I am coming out of pocket $1500 for all those repairs. With my experience I found parts that it needed much cheaper than dealer and my buddy isnt charging me labor. I love the car and could only obtain it by getting one with higher mileage but I knew I could offset the costs. I hope you guys can understand and ride the wave with me on my journey to make my car what I want it to be. Wheels soon and wrap after.
