Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 vs. PS4S
Any AMG owners tried the Michelin pilot sport cup 2 and the Michelin PS4S? Feedback. Need a new set of shoes and would appreciate any feedback you might have. Looking for the best all season ( live in Socal so no winter tires needed ) performance tires with a Y rating above 101. Thanks.

I have run various flavors of PSS’s over the years on my E55 and both E63’s. They are a great performing tire. I have not yet tried the PS4 yet, but others on this site, and reviewers of the tire swear by them. Only down side to them is cost and wear rate. Supposedly wear rate has gotten better.
A couple of things you should know though. First, they seam to have limited availability. Dealer cant get any. And Americas Tire (huge chain) has very few available. Tire Rack had zero when I looked. Not sure why this is. The second thing is they are not made in the stock size for the rears for the E63, 285 x 30 x 19. So after some checking on it all agreed that using the available 295 x 30 x 19 will look and perform just fine. Just a little bit more rubber. No mod/spacers or anything required for the 295’s. Weird that Michelin didn’t make the 285’s.
Anyway, hope this helps.
Good Luck

The P4S and PSS are VERY similar, i couldnt tell ant difference on the street with hard driving..
The cup2 is a very agressive tire for the street that i wouldnt recommened. They need alot of heat to get the performance out of them. They wear very fast aswell. I would go with the P4S, all around a good tire or the PSS which is 99% the same to be honest.

Except they dont make oem E63 AMG sizes -__- And from talking to Michelin they dont have any plans to aswell. So us E guys ons tock wheels are tied to PSS. Op might have more luck on his platform.

Read my post above. All that is needed is to go with 295x30x19 instead of 285. Not really a problem.

Thanks guys. Yes, the PS4S is what I plan on getting for the review I’ve seen and better thread wear. I actual went wider than OEM and plan on going with 265/23ZR/20 ( OEM 255/40ZR/20 ) and 295/30ZR/20 ( OEM 285/35ZR/20 ) so the heavy S63 is more planted and takes corners better.

The bigger thing I missed on this thread was the OP has an S class. Oops. So this discussion is a bit irrelevant to this thread. Lol
As I mentioned, I have this sized set waiting for installation. I will post pics of the rear wheel after I get them.

I ran Sport Cup 2's last year. I absolutely hated them on the street. I ran them in a few half mile events as well and didn't care much for them in those either. Traction was a problem.
Just switched to P4's a month ago.

Beautiful car!!
The downsizing being talked about is the size of the rear caliper. The W212 has a larger rear brake setup than the W213 it would seem.
Here is the W212 rear brake:
Compared to the posted picture of the W213:
