2013 vs 2014 E63?
I am thinking of switching over from my E60 m5 to an AMG (mainly due to its brutish exhaust!) I was wondering which car is easier to drive on, on the limit. Also, is the 2013 too tail-happy like the last gen C63's?
How are their reliability, as my current M5 is basically a ticking time bomb. Are there any major upgrades between the non-facelifted version and the facelifted version aside from exterior and interior cosmetics?
Thanks all!
also e63 >>>> more reliable than the m5 or any bmw for that matter, and I also have a 2016 550i
Seeing that you are from Chicago, is your car good in the rain and snow? I will be using the car in Illinois too.
Give me good evidence that the s63 or s63tu is "really reliable"
My '63 is a daily driver and the awd with all seasons is solid with all season conti dws; you won't be disappointed

interesting about the s63tu.... will have to check it out as all I've read is bad stuff, there are also anecdotal stories about 2011 550i's that don't burn oil or have any issues ...so anything is possible

and as you said in your recent post-- your m157 has been very reliable even with a tune

Just making sure no bad conclusions are drawn.
anothet $3000-5000 for an extended warranty is a small price to pay for peace of mind and if it's transferable it adds a little bit of value to the future sale of the car.
Sadly i think many companies will be looking for $5000-7000 for an e63 warranty

he said he has an x5m in the family; what type of trans is in that, that's what I was referring to

I believe the 05s have a DCT but Im not sure. As far as warranty goes, Id pay $5k but not much more than that. $5k bill is easily obtainable on these higher brands. The evaporator job on my E90 was $3k which my warranty covered. Add valve cover gaskets, steering pump, radiator etc, Im waaay ahead. Personally Id rather lose a small amount on the warranty cost then get caught with my pants down on a $40k+ engine
Snapped rear axle
spun #5 rod bearing requiring a new crank and all new bearings plus 1 piston rod.
New cat assemblies and muffler assemblies as a result of a coil shorting to ground and dumping raw fuel into the exhaust that blew up those exhaust components.
Granted all of these items are uncommon for these cars. But isn't the whole point of a warranty like this to have you covered for the unexpected?
I really can't say strongly enough that if you are able to get a warranty that is solid, do it. For a lot of guys, they can't even get the warranty when they want to buy one for various reasons.
Good luck whatever you end up doing.
