Hello to Everyone - but Bad experience with MB service team

I got my 2015 E63 October last year. I sold my BMW M3 two years ago for a SUV to be more family oriented. In October 2018, my second child turned to 3 years old and I decide to buy a E63 which combines performance, fun and passenger comfort. The car only had 30K when I bought it. now it has 32k miles. Its original factory warranty expired on Nov,30 2018 (this is 2015 model, but sold in 2014). Everything was perfect fine until 2 weeks after warranty expired.
There is a red light on the A/C button. Actually, I noticed that it was off as early as the beginning of November. I did not thought it was an issue, since it was winter time. I thought A/C is supposed to be off. I also had the car maintained in the dealership before the warranty was expired based on the factory maintenance recommendation. No one from the dealership told me there was anything wrong with the car. Two weeks later after the warranty expired, I pressed the A/C button (just for no reason), but I noticed the red light started blink. Then I take it to the repair shop and I was told that the A/C compressor is leaking.
Called MB service several times and waited for many weeks. eventually, I was told that, after talking to my local dealership, they will offer me 20% of the repair. The dealership quoted my 3k before tax, so I need to pay 2400 + tax. (Btw, a local repair shop only quote me 1800 includes tax.) I do not think it was a reasonable resolution, but MB customer service just keep telling me that's the best they can do. To be honest, the A/C was failed even before the end of warranty and the car only has 30K miles. Not sure what I can do. Now I feel this case is not about money any more. The way MB Customer service deals with customers really sucks. Nice car, but terrible services.
One last thing, I am thinking to upgrade the ECU, is there any recommendations or reference links I can study?
anyway, glad to be one of the MB family. Nice to meet you all.

You should escalate to the Mercedes area manager from corporate since you brought it in under warranty and they didn’t notice it and then two weeks later they tell you that AC compressor failed which to me is BS
by the way, is the dealership responsible for identifying the AC issue during the maintenance they performed? maybe they knew it, but not telling me. ha ha

anyway, thanks a lot for your comments. Cheers ...

I can tell you that the MB customer service thing is a bit of a "hit and miss" thing. I have had pretty good luck with getting their "good faith" exceptions on various cars in similar situations. I actually asked them once how they determine if they will grant the exceptions. I was told that their number 1 criteria is "Brand Loyalty". This basically means things like how long you have owned a MB and how many MB cars you have owned and if you have bought new cars from them. For me, my brand loyalty was considered very good as I have owned 5 over a period of 20+ years and 2 of which were new. So if this is your first MB and you bought it used, I am guessing that doesn't help you a lot with getting exceptions. It sucks! Yes it does. I would be pissed in your shoes too.
Anyway, I thought I would just offer this up for those who may not know this.
Good Luck

Vrodman is right - the local dealership have great flexibility to do work as they see please, but the central MB service reps can't. and of curse you did report this after the warranty was expired, so for them they are doing you a favor.
I'd focus on the local dealer and work with hem. if you had the car serviced there and you say you plan to come back etc, they can likely help you out a bit more. I'd go that route and play very nice with them.
Two lessons for all of us here:
1. Before the warranty expires - always take car to a different dealer or independent and ask them to do a pre purchase inspection. That helps you find any things that needs to be fixed before the warranty expires.
2. This is a good example of the quiet majority of E63 owners - never on the board for two years of fault free ownership. The internet is not a good source for true reliability measurements on our cars.
