Continental tires on E63 S-AMG Wagon
Hi ...
Has anyone installed Continentals on their wagon? I've been going through P Zeros like crazy, especially in the front. All my other German cars (BMWs and MBs) had a great ride on Contis Extreme Contact. However I didn't drive close to performance like I do on my e63 S-AMG wagon with the AMS re-mapped ECU. Any response would be greatly appreciated since I need new tires .... again! Thanks .... |
I do not have the wagon but has the Contis Extreme Contact DW6. I like the soft drive and performs very good in all weathers. I have same Contis Extreme Contact DW6 on my BMW X5 too. The only thing to know is these tires are not really for performaning in hard cornering since they have very thin soft side walls. They do ride better than most low-profile tires in the same size.

My wife's 2014 E63S wagon came with Continental ContiSport Contact 5P's. I replaced them with the same tire at 16K miles. Now, at 33K miles it is time to replace them again. The front tires have worn evenly but faster than the rears. I plan to replace all four with the same tire as I have no complaints. Yes the ride is a bit harsh - but this a high performance car and she doesn't drive it easily. I keep the tires inflated to 42psi (front) and 44psi (rear). I believe the front tire wear is due to her hard cornering (even from a start) as the front tires are "pulling" through the turn. I hope this helps.

Yes, the Continentals were the OEM tire on her car.

I thought Conti DWS06 was an update mainly to address the issue of soft sidewall of the original DWS by beefing up the sidewalls with extra ribs.

on my '14 E63s wagon i am running Nitto Invo (due to sizing i was a bit limited) - love how they handle both wet and dry - ill be buying again for sure -
F: 255/30 - 20x9.5 R: 285/25 - 20x10.5 |
Trouble with the Nittos is insufficient load rating. The sizes you referenced are only 92Y and 93Y respectively.

I’m on my second set of Continental 5Ps on my wagon and have been happy with the grip. I plan on trying the new Michelin 4S, but wouldn’t hesitate to go back to the Continentals if I had any problems getting the Michelins.
