2014 - W212 - E400 ( M276.820, 3 liter Turbo) RWD not Hybrid
Can anyone share road handling quality of E63 AMG vs slower W212 ?
HI All,
I read that E63 has regular steel spring ( but KG per millimeter rate not mentioned ) at the front and 2.2" wider front wheel base.
Rear suspension gets air type and adjustable.
Other possible beefed up suspension components , I don't know.
I hope to learn from you guys E63 AMG owners who have also driven extensively the slower E350/E400 W212 model with comfort suspension.
In your experience what are the obvious difference of your E63 or E63S in comfort and in sport setting compared to non AMG W212.
- tight corners, smooth road , how much more controlled the AMG in comfort mode ?
- tight corners with minor road imperfection, how is the back wheel behavior of AMG in comfort and sport mode compared to non AMG ?
- Straight line higher speed 110MPH at least, with minor road imperfection. Hows the straight line stability of AMG in comfort mode compared to non AMG ?
- Straight line higher speed 110MPH at least, with quite an undulation road surface where bump steer could take effect. Hows the stability of AMG in comfort and sport setting compared to non AMG ?
- High speed cornering, mild "polite" big bend of 10-15 degrees at 110 MPH or more, where a comfort setting in non AMG may produce enough body roll/lean which we find rather distracting.
I call it distracting because I find the steering input to the front wheel got delayed due to body roll/lean masking the tire traction for that short fraction of time.
It could also be the numb steering of the non AMG , I don't know.
Hows the improvement for AMG in comfort and sport setting for this scenario ?
I know this is a lot of questions, but I am sure AMG owners are petrol heads and would love to share
Thanks so much in advance.....

2014 E63S; AMS 100 octane ecu tune; edok tcu tune; BB intakes; dyno tuned
My dad has a 2016 e350 and I have a 2014 e63S
the e63S handles much better in performance situations and highway driving than the e350. For regular cruising on normal roads that have bumps and potholes etc the e350 is a nice supple luxurious ride.
cornering in the e63S is very accurate and not numb. The steering is still electric so it's not like old school systems where you had tons of feedback but it's much better than the e350
