Tire Guide; What I have learned

Hello All,

I lurk mostly, however I try to do all my own work on my car. I had a hellcat, previously that I put lowering springs and a few other items on.

I bought a 2014 E63 AMG S due to wanting to actually be able to put the horsepower down.

But enough about me.

I have been on a tire Odyssey for the last few months. I have swapped the stock 19x9.5s for 20's

The first set were 20x10.5 with 305x30s with 275x35s on front Pilot super Sports. The Air suspension however would lower and then dig into the tire. Thusly I switched to the 295x30s. They fit like a glove.

I got a good set on a set of rims with a crack. Fixed the crack and put the 20x11s (20x9.5 fronts) on the car. now with the 295x35s they rub again.

So I was thinking about going with a 325x25 or 335x25 on the back. Any input on if they will fit or not?

I hope this helps, I couldn't find a lot of data. Maybe because there are so few of these cars out there, or because no one works on their own car.

take care.

295x30 R19 rear is perfect. Anything else is just experimenting.

Maybe for a stock application. There are very few people who are running stockers on high horsepower vehicles. Drag times, road course times, these cars are usually running really wide rears or fronts. For Drags it is usally 17 or below. I know due to the transfer case and AWD that may not be ideal. However I am sure there are people getting much better performance out of bigger stickier tires and different rim options. Hell if it was in the budget I would go with a carbon rim set up to really decrease the unsprung weight.

Carbon rims are a dream :)

For this size you would need wider wheels and fender flares. Don't think it would come close to fitting.

The wheels are 20x11 which should fit just fine as far as a wide enough rim for that tire. Are you sure the fender would need to be rolled. I think it might stick out a little, however with the 305s I had the issue wasn't width fitment it was height. I had 305s on my 19s for about 4 months. If you have personal experience or data please let me know. I am not trying to argue, I just want to see if you have personal experience with wide tires.

It’s all about offset. There is only enough physical room in there for a 305 plus a couple mm on each side for clearance. An 11” wheel is doable, but risky. I would prefer a 10” or 10.5”. The critical part is that the offset is +49mm or +50mm.
