Strut replacement, anyone?

Anyone replaced one or both of their front struts? I'm still chasing some kind of ride quality on by 15 S sedan. It has the Renntech spring set, and I'm not sure if that's some of the problem. But impacts on the road are just awful, and I can't seem to get much more Height out of them. I'm really beginning to wonder if they are worn out..but it just turned 30k miles last weekend. However, it is over 5 years old.
The OE units are those crap Monroes...and I wouldn't be surprised if they weren't worn out. I also have a noise in the front that's very small but bothers me big time. Has anyone replaced their front struts, by warranty, or just wear, or....? I don't know of another manufacturer that has any thing that will fit. Wonder if the 16 cars used the same part number (so often, MB gets complaints ab out ride quality and they will change them for the following year.) I've even wondered about changing to an E550 front strut....I think the RT springs rate is too high, but don't know if changing to KW would make it much different in terms of ride quality.
Anyone have any experience or ideas?

Interested to see if there are other options for front struts. I’m sure mine are going to bow out at some point.

I have looked and looked...

Sachs, Boge, Bilstein (first choice, always)..but found nothing. I still wonder if the PN for the E550 4 matic sedan would work....and it wouldn't be so freaking hard...

Wondering what this "small noise" you have at the front is. I have the KW HAS in my '14 and I can seldom hear a very faint "clunk" when turning the steering wheel while the car is static or moving slowly to park.
In terms of comfort, I personally feel the HAS kit doesn't change it much or at all (compared to stock). I have in various occasions read complains about the E63's ride comfort from members. While this is a "Luxury vehicle" I think we must also keep in mind this is their "Performance model" and a degree of "stiffness" from the suspension is required to make the car "handle". Just my opinion.
"But impacts on the road are just awful" Are you on 20's by any chance?

Yes, I am....

But have Michelin PS4S on all my cars, and they offer the best ride quality I've seen. I think the guys in Stuttgart just refuse to believe that roads are like this anywhere. When I"m on a stretch of freshly paved asphalt, it works superbly. I had the Renntech springs on my last 212 63, and the H and R's on the one before that (just awful)--I"m wondering if RT is having their springs wound at H and R. There is just too much rate in there for the USA roads).I know there was a running change in their springs about a year ago. .But I'm beginning to think that these Monroe OE shocks are fast wearing out, and as they get more worn, lower and lazier, are riding at the most compressed section of the strut, which is hampering the ride quality even more. .BTW, my noise is a slight "chuffing " noise, as the Brits would say, metal to metal, very quick, and always there except on the most minor impacts. I have had the shock mounts replaced already with no success. .
I wonder if the KW kit with their shocks is worth pursuing.?
Thanks for the input. Keep it coming.
Vivid, Renntech, listening?

@allenjdmb,
I have a set of Continentals ExtremeContacts (275/35/19 and 305/30/19) for summer and Continental DSWs for the rest of the year (245/40/19 and 275/35/19). The ride quality is night and day. While I love the look of both sets of wheels on my car... twd the end of fall (I can not lie) I have an urge to throw the all season't back on... they are that much more comfortable (sure, the side wall is also taller).
Just to make you aware... The KW HAS kit is an adjustable collar and spring up front and just the links (garbage) for the airmatic rear... no shocks.

Well,

They do have kits that are not generally promoted in USA that include their Inox shocks. Check German Ebay or the German kw site. I really feel the flaw in this system is the shocks. It usually takes 2 or three tries for them to get the ride quality right ( see cla 45, early r230, and early 205 63...all the first versions wee miserable.)
yes the contis do ride softly, but are soooooo numb...thanks again for your input..

On my 2016 the dealer replaced front wheel bearings, both upper control arms and lower cross struts and then an alignment was performed. All under warranty, chasing a sound that was coming when moving the steering-wheel while the car was off. The sound got muted a bit but the ride quality not gonna lie improved noticeably, more smooth over bumps and the car drives straight like a nail on the freeway. At the time the car had only 20,000 miles. I think if i switch to Michelins from these ****ty P-zeros, ill see further improvement of ride quality.

Good information,

Thanks Timm...I know I'm asking a lot, but do you happen to have the RO where they did that work? Wanted to see if I had the same PN's....
Mine is a 15 with an october 14 production date...

I also chased a sound when turning wheel and had horrible tracking on the hwy- drove like this for a month wondering why this car was worse than my X5M at driving...I went under the car to scope out a midpipe install and found the cross strut bushing had popped out of its home on the driver side completely and was starting to squirt out on the pass side. Had those replaced by dealer and now tracking straight and handling is solid and no more weird sounds besides the stupid rattle in my driver door.

THanks....

but I don't want to get too far off the track. This is mainly a search to see if 1) The KW springs have substantially better ride quality than most (that seems to be accurate), and (2) if I decide to take it apart again, if I can find something other then the OE crap Monroes to replace the front struts...…
Amy of my ATL friends have the KW's on their car? Maybe I could go for a ride......

Got it-
I'm still here to hear the responses- I'm on stock suspension and it rides pretty lofty to me still. I dont want to sacrifice too much ride quality with a drop- The X5M was similar with bags on the rear controlled by leveling cams, and I put H&R 2.0 springs on front ...it looked great but ride quality sucked horribly! I'd love to hear more on the KWs

Hey no problem here you go, car production date is OCT-2015 and ill PM you the dealer. Also the “strut rods” include new bushings and the “cross member” is same PN for both sides.
