B1 Service? Can I do a DIY?

Hey Guys my B1 Service notification came up on my E63s saying I got 1400kms until its due. So I called up my tuner to ask if he can do it and he said yes.. but it consists of a bunch of things I don't think need to be replaced? Here's the list he gave me:

1. oil change $150
2. Spark Plugs $500
3. Belt Install ? $200
4. Cabin FIlter $120
5. Air Filters $150
Total $1120 but hew said he'll do it for $900

What do you guys think? and I got a feeling some of these items are easy DIY tasks and for one I can do my own oil changes and have done so. I think air filters and cabin filters should be easy as well. Spark plugs not so much but I do have a Spark Plug changing kit from Princess Auto that I have never used... maybe its time.. but let me know what you guys think.

Refer to post #8. https://mbworld.org/forums/m-class-w...r-filters.html
You can DL maintenance booklet pdf. Many services are mileage related. Oil changes are a definite at least once a year even if car is not driven (oil brakes down). Air and cabin filters are simple enough DIYs.

IIRC plugs should be done every 60K according to MB.

I did my plugs recently (115,000 miles) and the job wasn't too bad, although 2 things that made it much easier for me...

1. Have the right spark plug tool... It made the job go by much faster (I actually started doing plugs without it). Hazet looks to be the same as the MB branded one in my opinion.

2. The plug leads are on.... t.i.g.h.t. Buy at least a couple plug leads. I was lucky, the previous owner of my car used dielectric grease so my leads came off easy... YMMV.

- Matt

Echo what Merchant is stating above - I started trying to do the sparkplugs and gave up. The coils were on so freaking hard I was afraid to break things. I did however try to do it cold.
I think having the engine warm (maybe even hot) is key. But that makes for a less fun experience. Since I'm still under warranty I went to dealer and overpaid.

B1 is probably just oil change and air filters and inspection. Plugs aren’t due til 60k and belt should go 100. When you do the belt I would recommend the belly kit with new idlers and tensioner. Mercedes pulleys seem to like to squeak after belt work

A tuned engine needs plugs every 10k miles

i have a DIY on coils that's super easy, engine needs to be at 100F at least

plugs need to be perfectly indexed

you asked your "tuner" so that is to say you're tuned
