Headlights, Panoramic and Airmatic Issues
I am now seriously evaluating my cost of ownership because.....
I have encountered some very annoying repair items in less than 1.5 years AND and this has got me second guessing my long-term commitment to Mercedes... ( I have owned several).
My questions are this:
1. Issue one - both headlights cracked at the bottom area.. had to replace one as it went inoperable during last winter. Local Dealer wanted $3500 ($2500 part + $1000 labor). Got i done for $1500 part (online part discount store) and $1000 labor). Hindsight says I should have replaced the other one - duh...
Question: I have seen some other folks refer to this issue also... Is this a common item on the 2014+ W212 E63 AMGs? This is ridiculously expensive for a freaking headlight job (bumper an reprogramming needed to replace the headlights).
2. Issue two - Panoramic - yep mine creaks like a %#%$%.
Question: Whats the acceptable repair cost/tightening lube etc.. for the job? Does it fix the issue permanently or will I have to go back again in 30k miles?
3. Issue three - Yep Had an airmatic repair bill in excess of $6,000. My local dealer ate this cost as it was very close to purchase period and they should have caught it before the sale.
Question - Is the KW Coilover the only way to escape this issue - should it arise again? Because I have just about had it with Mercedes on suspension systems. I also came from a w211 e55 and a w215 cl55 - ALL HAD SUSPENSION Problems!
Many Thanks
AA
2. pano can be a permanent fix and rarely people need to re fix - check my sticky, there is a DIY in the sticky if you're brave
3. airmatic will always be costly and is a common source of expensive issues, well documented in sticky

I guess I’m just disappointed in Mercedes for not fixing these problems given how long they have been producing pano roofs and airmatic suspensions. The headlights, I saw that one other person on the board posted about so I’m going to assume it’s another merc quirk. either way, it’s an expensive quirk for sure.
ive been with AMGs for a while but this is probably my last one given the issues i am consistently seeing from this brand.
stay safe out there.
