Renntech intercooler pump

Hey guys,

Has anyone installed the new generation renntech pump and noticed that the bracket that is supplied isnt the correct one for the w212 or c218? It seems as if the bends and size of the table are incorrect. Unless of course the pump is supposed to hang instead of being clipped and bolted like the factory.

Any insight would be helpful.

Top bracket is factory and the tab fits correctly.

Tab sizes are wildly different

Kinda just hanging there?

Big peg, small hole.

Maybe make the "peg" smaller? A minute or two with a bench grinder could solve this.

I definitely could fabricate a bracket with the correct size tongue and hole for the bolt, but for $1400 that's unacceptable.

I learned to 'tolerate' premiums on AMG performance upgrades from quality vendors. I tell myself that their original CAD design, production volume does not permit the economy of scale, etc. However, the case of the RENNtech IC pump 'upgrade' is extraordinary. I cannot help wondering if someone went certifiably mad at RENNtech. I mean, for the kit they make no custom items, repackage the OE parts at $1,000 markup. It must be the new record.

People wonder why fit is horrible. It cannot fit by definition. The body of Pierburg CWA100-2 is larger than Bosch, and requires both halves of the bracket to mate snugly over the rubber sleeve. RENNtech provides only the lower half of some generic bracket with approximate curvature despite the availability of the native AMG bracket.

The proper way to mount the CWA100-2 pump is to use the native AMG brackets (yes, need both):

Pump Bracket, to bracket, A2125014320
$24.33

Pump Bracket, to frame, A2125014420
$35.20

You can reuse your original 3x M6X16 bolts to frame, and bolt M6X15 to clamp the brackets.

Hope this helps. By the way, I will have to write a DIY article when I have the time.

It does help a ton. Essentially they supply a bracket that doesn't fit without extensive modification while one is available from a parts department. You'd think they'd just mark-up the OEM part! Thanks for the help, I can't wait to chat with them tomorrow
