Painted CPO
So I am looking for a replacement for the totaled G-class and came across the 2021 CPO GLC63 with 33K miles.
Went to check the car out and saw the whole driver's side was painted.
Not a quality paint that's almost indistinguishable from the factory paint, but a really bad one with bumps all over!
Is MB CPO going downhill in acceptable quality and tolerances, or is it specific dealer related?

This place is a joke.
Dealers only care about profit. Paintwork isn't a CPO disqualifier unless there's frame damage. CPO these days means you're basically buying a warranty, not a new condition car with some miles on it, which was the original intent of the program.

Man that's frustrating! There used to be something about 1 - 2 panels can be painted, but more than that would disqualify it from CPO. so, either that dealer didn't care about that rule or the rule is gone.

I have no way to confirm the paint work occurred during cpo turnover but neither have paintwork on carfax. I suppose the leasees or first owners could have had it done out of pocket before trade in. Idk.

I think it’s pretty common when a dealer has an on site body shop. On the MB I found a few dirt nibs and a small print in a quarter panel. On the Volvo there is overspray in the fuel filler plastic area and the paint on that panel doesn’t match perfectly easy to tell since it’s kinda a pearl color.

I think it's more important that the Carfax is clean for future owners. I am fastidious about car purchasing and have never even considered measuring paint thickness. But that's because I always buy at the bottom of the market.
