Help with this noise
Added this video to a couple Facebook groups but these forums always have smarter people imo. Started hearing this chirping/whining/squeaky/squeaking noise at idle when warm. Goes away with any increase in rpms. Can't seem to hear it from the top of the motor when the hood is open. Very clear from the wheel area on both sides. Have to get underneath with a stethoscope. From the top I don't see any pulley wobble. Ideas?

Sounds like a pulley going bad. At 60k miles, I had to change 3 of them.
If you're handy with tools, take the serpentine belt off and check if they run rough.

I am afraid a belt kit isn't all that's needed, right?
Important maintenance rarely phones in:
Your best interest is to stay ahead of scheduled maintenance. Many places will extend free service inspections. Troubleshooting repairs beeing a whole different ballgame.
Think of maintenance as savings on unnecessary repairs.

- Tranny ATF !!
- Ignition tune up
- Diff 1Qt oil
- Charging system
- CPS leak "Oil-in-harness"
- Coolant circuit

I have an extended warranty but all the benz dealerships in my area are booked until February for a loaner. They said there just a major recall (didnt get into specifics) and thats why they are so booked up. Either way Ill start with the pulleys and report back

The belt hissing and the wobbly dried idler bearing is caused by the worned tensioner helping the stretched belt overheat all your accessories.
You can get a complete German made belt kit for about $100 and some change according to idler counts - Lifetime replacement including genuine Mercedes as well. Stay with quality originals.
- Serpentine belt
- tensioner
- idlers wheels ribed/smooth
For your dealer appointment order the work you want just like at the icecream parlor - They are not going to automatically perform the services your car needs... MISCONCEPTION!!
That's up to you to decide as detailed in my earlier post. (Tranny ATF, Spark plugs, Diff., engine oil, coolant FLUSH...) - nice & quick - No repairs so its cheap. You car wins.

I recommend, however, that you follow @CaliBenzDriver recommendations for maintenance if they have not been done. In priority, I would have the tranny and diffs serviced first, then worry about spark plugs. Some of the items are DIY if you have the tools and ability, such as adding wiring harness extensions to your CPS cabling. I would also add flushing the brake fluid every two years, which is often a neglected service.
Hopefully, you can do most yourself. The tranny service is not hard, just requires the right tools and preferably a lift.
