If a similar understatement exists with the new one, that 612 HP should equate closer to 664. Not bad. |
2018 Mercedes AMG E63 and E63 S
|
I hope those exhaust snaps on the throttle lifts are as animated as they are in the video.
|
Variable awd/rwd? Does that mean we wont be losing roll races to m5 anymore?
|
And how about a w213 section.. the m5 guys are more exited about this car than the e63 guys here..
|
Very Nasty! Can't wait to get one in 2023. :D
|
Great looking E63S. I love the exhaust notes.
|
Why do they call it an E63 when it has a 4 liter? Why not call it an E40? Blasphemy!
In my humble opinion the new E Class looks like last year's C Class. |

With ECU tune on both usually e63 beats m5 |
We need more info on this new split power in drift mode. Can it be set to full 100% rear end power, for top speed runs or not:confused:. Also trans is wet clutch, but with 9 gears now.
An other factor to take into account...this is all new, the first batch will be nasty if things go wrong, as I do not know of any other MB that runs such tec. The E will be the first to pilot it onto the battlefield:p: |

The rear end looks too much like a CLS, otherwise, I'm pretty excited!

This is might be a good thing if it elimates that stupid lag the current e63s has off the line before it gets moving. As for the rear wheels getting all the power, it sounds from the article that the car needs to be in drift mode to do it which means you can select it anytime but only when shifting manually. So that would suck because most people would probably have trouble doing the shifts perfectly that way. Auto shifting would of worked better for the roll races imo. also, torque converter might have higher drivetrain losses than wet clutch transmission |
It sounds like a r32 skyline awd system doesnt it? if the car can launch of the line in awd and then switch to rwd only.. that would be awesome yeah?

Your observation is about 5 years late.

The 2015 to 2017 C63 would be C55. The 2017 C43 would be C30. The C300 would be C200. ... and on and on and on. |
Insider told me its a multi disc wet clutch with 9 gears
Faster shifting, new software for downshifts and a lot of new features. 100% rear wheel power will be available in in race mode for ALL RUNS! Now for the other bit of info that i did not know:report::report::report: The turbos are TWIN scroll!:naughty::naughty::naughty: Quoted ''The twin scroll turbochargers are deployed for the first time to boost performance and improve responsiveness further. The housings divided into two parallel ducts in the exhaust manifold, this makes it possible to control the exhaust gases on the turbine wheel separately. The Exhaust gas from the 1st and 4th cylinders of the cylinder bank is fed into one duct and exhaust gas from the 2nd and 3rd cylinders to the other duct. The aim is to prevent individual cylinders from having mutually adverse effects on the gas cycle. The result are increased output due to improved cylinder charge with fresh mixture, more torque at low revs and a very immediate response times.''

Whats the benefit of having twin scroll turbo compared to what it was before?
